Default upgrading ticket to annual pass

So correct me here where I'm off, but you can take a park ticket and then upgrade it to an annual pass, right?

Scenarios:

1. You buy a regular ol' six day park hopper ticket straight from the Mouse for $598 to go in mid-March. You go and on the sixth day decide to upgrade it to a Gold annual pass which lists at $699. Are you only out the $101 or are you out more because they have to convert it?

2. Now lets change the time we go, from mid-March to April over Easter. This is a block out period for a Gold Pass. You get your six day park hopper from the Mouse for $635. On the last day you want to upgrade it to a Gold. The difference is $64. Will they let you considering you've snuck around the Gold Blockout period?

Yes and yes.

Or buy it from an authorized broker like UCT and you can get gate value applied and the total cost would be a little less.

Yep, did that exact scenario (2) last Spring Break. We still had one day left on the tickets. The CM doing the upgrade (at AK) kept checking with me to make sure I really wanted to upgrade because it would mess up our ability to get into the park on our "last day". We were headed out on a cruise, so we weren't going to the parks anymore after that.

Gamed the system. Excellent.

Did you get your tickets direct from Disney or UCT?
