Everest had "soft openings" before the official opening day. We rode it several times. I believe there were also AP previews.

I’m thinking that the current boarding group system that gives no preference to onsite guests was vetted there too!

If I'm an "onsite guest" in Hell, I expect FP preference, damn it!

Default Snl

I watched it and thought it was hilarious. It just shows you can make fun of all most anything. Kate McKinnon was fantastic as the devil and let's hope Mitch McConnell has a sense of humor. As a Dvc owner of did not bother me that Disney was being made fun of.

Even Flight of Passage, the previous "insanity magnet", had standby lines of 3-4 hours for some time*, but did not come close to ROTR for demand vs capacity. They did regularly open the park early, e.g. between 7:00 and 7:30 on morning EMH days, and there were a lot of those!

* It may still for all I know. I won't come within 100 yards of it without a FP!
And what you state is what I've always said is the problem with a virtual line - the lack of investment of standing in a line.

I have zero doubt that FOP would have been the complete #&!$#! mess that ROTR is if it had used a virtual line. Disney really needs to stop it and it may still be crazy but it won't be a complete mess like it is now.

I don't believe so but overall attendance was a lot lower when both of those opened too.

Going way back I remember things like 20,000 leagues consistently have 2+ hour waits. Extrapolate that attraction and the number of guests compared to today and it's probably not too different than an 8 hour wait for something like FOP or ROTR.

The bit about the “Fast pass straight to Hell” was specific to Disney. Other statements were about Orlando in general.
