I couldn't figure out the value in it, and I pay for the race retreat package every time I run in one of these. Maybe there is something I'm missing.

As for corral placement, if they only let you move up one I don't see that as being a big deal. I often am frustrated early in the race when I've gotten a pretty decent spot only to be plugged up by groups of people walking 10 wide in the first mile. There are existing shenanigans going on as best I can tell, so if people want to pay an insane sum of money for a slightly better starting spot, so be it.

I don't get this club. When I read the name, I thought it was a way to get discounted and guaranteed access to the races, but it looks like it only give you early access to pay for them, and other perks (the lounge, merchandise that you can buy, corral placement). I don't get it.

It still is in all legitimate races. We stopped Disney races after F&W stopped being night time. Overpriced, overcrowded...what's not to love

I've supported most of what people call "money grabs," because they're not. They're offering extra stuff to those that want to pay for it. This, though, is different. Those slow folks paying for upgraded corrals will negatively impact those properly in those corrals. This is completely lame.

Cheers.

In reality, not really. The number of people that clearly lie about finish time (the easy way to get corral placement) is high enough that this is already happening for the first 0.5 - 1 mile.

Cheers.

And then there is the team in training way to get yourself in a good corral. If you have a common name like Jane Doe they suggest you search various races until you find somebody with your name and just submit that as your time. When one of the racers told me this one time I told her I was really shocked that team in training was training them to be rude. From that point on I have never given any money to people doing team in training

I hadn't realized that Team in Training did that. I thought one just got to run for free for raising donations. As for times, most of the about 75 races I've done (I have a spreadsheet) allow one to just enter a finish time. No verification required. Maybe Disney were not like this? Only done 2 of those.

Cheers.

They really didn't need to this. A much better system would be to offer a tent near the corrals and since they send off each corral in waves just hold an empty spot at the front of the corral and let the club members fill it in at the last minute. This would let the runners have bathrooms, maybe water and go juice (pick the sponsors brand) and stay warm on the cold race mornings. That would add value and not piss off the other runners by jumping corrals.

The heck with rude, that is training them on how to cheat. There is a web site dedicated to outing cheaters in at least marathons (I don't know the URL I just hear about it from my daughter)if I had specific case I would send that web site the info and see if they would run with it.

We went to the expo yesterday and they had a small area advertising the club. The people there didn't seem to have any more info than is on the web site. The two question that they couldn't / wouldn't answer were what was the member discount for the races and if the "Dopey" counted as a distance for guaranteed entry.
