Default 4th fireworks viewing suggestions?

GOOD NEWS: DH and I having coffee on Sunday morning, discussing upcoming 4th of July weekend, no definitive plans, book spur of the moment trip to SSR for this Friday through Monday. As expected nothing available for Thursday the 4th, but we’re happy to take what we can get.

Woo!

MORE GOOD NEWS: Wake up for no reason at 4:00 a.m. (thank you nearly 50 year old lady brain), check DVC availability for the 4th...nothing, check again 4:30...nada, check again at 5:00 a.m. and the calendars are all blank and won’t load. Refresh, Bay Lake Tower lake view pops up! Book it, change flights.

Double Woo!

Interrupt my husband’s shower to share the good news, discuss getting to watch the fireworks from the TOTWL. Neither one of us have ever seen the 4th of July or New Year’s Eve fireworks show.

BAD NEWS: Just read the info about the TOWTL being closed that night, even for Bay Lake Tower guests, for a paid event.

Boo.

Ok, happy to get in an unexpected trip and we’re going to have a great time regardless of any kinks. Already have a reservation at Wine Bar George (one of my new faves).

Any suggestions for other 4th of July fireworks viewing possibilities that don’t involve fighting the massive crowd at MK?

Maybe you got room I cancelled for 4th
Going to Southlake, Tx instead .
At airport now.
I think you should ask in BLT lobby about the 4th.
Since it was late announcement might not be capacity.
Hope you get togo to the Top of the World for 4th. and report back with success!

The beach at the Poly has a great fireworks view. There is also a really big / nice terrace at the walkway form the Contemporary over to BLT. I am surprised that more people dont utilize it ...or...that Disney does not use it and charge people. It is right out side at the walkway. I think it is the 4th floor of the Contemporary (or maybe the 5th but either way it is right at the walkway and you cant miss it)...but my first choice would probably be at the Poly...get a Dole Whip at Captain Cooks and watch from the beach

I'm not sure I would expect to be able to do this at the Polynesian. They are very strict about the people along the beach on the 4th and turn many away.

The walkway might be super busy as well but a better chance than what you'd get at the Polynesian.

I stayed at the Poly a few years ago over the 4th and the fireworks were AWESOME! They went from places outside the park, or so it seemed to me at least.

I hope you get a great spot!

Good point about the Poly beach - they may have it locked down for people staying there. I would definitely not plan to drive up and park unless you had a dinner reservation there...you'd need to take the bus or monorail otherwise.

You can also see them from the dock at the GF

A topic I know something about!

I was at WDW for the 4th the past two years -

Poly Beach is centerfield and a great view - (better from inside one of the Bungalos - just sayin) See if you can get a dining reservation early at Poly walk to the Poly Beach - Last year we were going to do the same but dinner at GF Cafe until better option opened up!

Get early dining reservation Cali grill - Check for cancellations - They will let you back up the elevator around 9pm to view from the Observation Deck - (we were all dressed nice for dinner and people who had dined earlier lined up in shorts & T's to get back up to Cali Grill)

Traffic around MK is tight - took well over a half hour just to get into contemporary parking lot - do not plan on going near any of the resorts with a car without a dining reservation

Best of luck
