I also do both. I love seeing the world via DCL, as well as land trips.

Post Covid, I have 2 trips I am ready to take!

Return to England, Ireland and see Scotland for the 1st time.

Go to Germany, Italy and Greece and see as much in-between as possible!

Ditto for us.....We always did a balance of DVC and the rest of the world.

This year we spent two weeks in the Virgin Islands. As of today, we have a cruise to Alaska and a week in the Bahamas planned for next year. Eventually, we want to do a river cruise in Germany, get back to Hawaii, Northern Lights (somewhere) and more.

We have done HHI, WDW and cruising for years now. Mostly driving to these places as airfare for 5 can be a bit much, especially the last couple years (before COVID).

After kids all went off to college we began doing weekend trips to places we could get to easily/quickly. Nashville, Ithaca, Asheville, Tampa. Did NY with the kids right before they all went off to college. DH likes these trips. I am not a fan as they are whirlwind and not super relaxing. I prefer watching sunset in tropical place with a drink in my had. But DH would like to venture farther away and do similar but longer trips (sightseeing a new place). He'd even like to head over to Europe. So we probably will. There is talk, with DH's family, of going to Ireland next year.

But we're going to ramp up cruising too. Last one was Jan 2019. Had 2 cancelled this year and then we got ahead of things and cancelled a March cruise for next year. BUt just booked a Feb 2022 cruise on the new Royal megaship, Odyssey. Have always wanted to try one of their megaships. And this cruise goes to southern CAribbean (The A and the C of an ABC cruise) which we also have wanted to try. Got a great balcony deal.

This year we managed a week in HH (not DVC). And the weekend in Ithaca. Next is another week in HH next month. I think we may end up with a quarter share there so we have 13 weeks a year we can go as we just love it (but would need to sell more of our DVC). We also have 2 weeks in FL between Thanksgiving and Xmas. Beginning with 3 nights at BCV and then 10 nights in a house rental in Palm Coast. Rented a 3BR home with covered heated pool. But our 20-something kids can't come due to obligations (adulting now). Plus we just learned that MIL's cancer is back so we are leery to leave around the holidays. She likely will be having surgery around the time we should be in HH next month so even that trip is a bit up in the air. Man, 2020 really is the WORST!!!!! Hope 2021 doesn't say 'hold my beer' to 2020.

We have a non-DVC trip forum for anybody who wants to share there non-DVC, or even non-Disney vacations.

This forum is sort of overlap, but I think the focus would be on sharing vacation experiences from the standpoint of have "let go of or downsized" DVC.

The kicker there is, how are things different for you now?

In our case, a trip to California for family or Florida for friends, or even Savannah/South Carolina would be normal for us even as DVC owners. But major trips now (time or $$ commitment) would be a change. My posts here would be from that vantage point.

Dirk

If Jim could get the time, I'm all over a road trip across the country next summer. We did that in 2002 and it was amazing.

I wouldn't knock Bermuda, either!

And think within the US if you want a bit different, there is always Puerto Rico. Pretty easy to get to and they still need the tourists!
