How late to rent points for May?

Hey, all! I'm tentatively planning a May 8-16 trip, may rent DVC points (alternative is the Swan & Dolphin), and wondering how long we can wait to book a reservation. Not usually a last-minute vacation planner.

Any general impressions on current availability and rental dynamics that might help us decide if we need to book as soon as possible, or if a spot will be avail in a couple (few?? ) weeks?

We're open to VGF, BLT, BWV, or BCV, but would rather not do a split stay.

Our dates are pretty firm.

Q: Are you looking for a studio, one bedroom, two bedroom, or something else?

FWIW Swan and Dolphin are perfectly good options, esp since you're apparently starting with plenty of cash and no points. They have a great location, within walking distance of two parks, and some very nice restaurants.

Thanks for the note about Swan & Dolphin! I've never considered them before, since they're not really Disney -- but location is a priority, price is good, and they look nice, with good amenities.

"Plenty of cash" might be an overstatement, but I guess it's relative.

It really depends on where you want to stay or are willing to stay. Several resorts could be obtained on short notice. More popular resorts are most likely booked.

You may want to look into renting an existing reservation instead!

I tried looking for a studio for mid March in mid February and had to take a 1BR, and this was for only a single night! Availability is dwindling as people are starting to visit Florida more.

For those desired dvc resorts it maybe already too late for a studio.

Holding rules for cancelling are going into effect as of April 1, so folks are going to have to start planning earlier.

I thought the holding was changing at the end of April so May 1st? Did I read that wrong?

Thanks for this! I'd be totally happy with an existing reservation if I saw one that fit. Always browsing confirmed reservations for fun.

Good to know studios might already be in short supply -- we'll have to be flexible, and not procrastinate too long.

I’m not sure. For some reason I had it in my mind as of April 1.

Does anyone know?
