Copper Creek will not sell out in the spring of 2019. It will sell out early 2020. Riviera sales will probably start in the summer of 2019, with the opening in the fall of 2019 (October/November).

I would expect the Riviera initial sales price to be around $185-190 per point.

It's 2021. I'd expect a year long celebration like for the 25th.

Is DVC worth it......One of the famous recurring questions.

I have done financial analysis and breakdowns every year since we first bought in 2006. After every calculation, the answer is always yes.....if you go to Disney at least for a week and stay at moderate/deluxe accommodations every year. The break even point for buying at a new resort is always around 10-11 years.....even at Copper Creek. For me, we are a family of 5 and before DVC always needed two connecting hotel rooms. The breakeven is even quicker and the convenience factor of having the 2-bedroom is priceless.

Don't get hung up on the price per point of contracts. A Copper Creek at $182 pp with 50 years left is not the same as a Beach Club Resort at $140 with 24 years left. To figure the true cost, you need to take the price of the contract and divide by (the contract size x years left on the contract), then add the maintenance fee per year.....example for 100 point contract at Copper Creek and Beach Club.

CCV -$18200 divided by (100 x 50) = $3.64 per point + $7.26 = $10.90 per point

BCV - $14000 divided by (100 x 24) = $5.83 per point + $6.44 = $12.27 per point

Three years......one before, during and one after....it will be beaten to death like a discussion about the affordability of the dining plan

It will be interesting to see if they do anything special on 10/1/21, the "actual" 50th anniversary.

That day does fall on a Friday that year, so they could roll out all the stops if they wanted.

I just bought into CCV direct last December. I knew almost nothing about DVC but we were on a trip to DL and figured we might as well go to the presentation and check it out. Knowing about the resale market I still don't regret buying direct. I know it could have saved my family some money but for me, what we are getting is well worth it. We had the money, we bought the contract and we can enjoy Disney for the next 50 years. I'm only 33 and my children are 9 and 6. We will probably add on a 150 point contract at another resort through resale sometime in the next few years. Absolutely no regrets at all.

We did it! We purchased 125 CCV yesterday to get the $750 incentive. The points were in our account within an hour. Sooooo much easier than resale. (Yes, I know you pay for the convenience.) We have three resale contracts. This is our first direct purchase.

Looking forward to our first stay which we've already scheduled for April!
