The Buzz at MouseOwners

Welcome to the first August edition of the Buzz. In some states, children are already back in school. In Canada, the summer break is only half done so we celebrate with another long weekend. In Britian, there's this fairly large sporting event going on, which we are discussing in this Olympics thread started by MinnieKissedMe.

Whether you are working, studying or relaxing, we invite you to take a few moments to join in the ongoing madness which is MouseOwners.

Using DVC Wisely and Well

Bethrox booked a cruise with DVC points, and found out when she cancelled, that there are many restrictions on what she can do with the points. Be sure you understand the risks when using points outside the DVC system.

Simba's Mom got caught by the waitlist rule preventing changes to your waitlists. Another lesson for the rest of us.

e-laine is pondering buying DVC, and for the purposes of her spreadsheet calculations, wants to know how often DVC Members waste points (i.e. let them lapse). The answer is rarely, with good planning, and given how many of us are in borrowing rather than banking mode.

This thread discusses the wisdom of DVC itself, rather than DVC Members. D C asks is Aulani on the right island?, assuming that Disney had a choice of development sites.

Vacation Planning

Melk asks some questions about driving routes and other strategies for Interstate 95 and gets pages of responses. Who'd a thunk we could talk so much about a road other than Route 66?

loadsapixiedust is looking for advice on which resorts have close parking spots when the vehicle will be used to load and unload a wheelchair.

Carolina_Yankee is stirring the old refillable mug pot, albeit with a different variation on the question.

Touring the Parks

Nbodyhome brings us more on the Fantasyland expansion including Gaston. Unfortunately, there's still no ale in Gaston's Tavern.

Dragonkeeper shares a rumour that construction for the Avatar land in Animal Kingdom has started. They've been a lot quieter about what is going in here than they were about the Fantasyland expansion.

Trip Reports

There are just two new reports this week, but both are a lot of fun. First, suejen works out a two cruise vacation on opposite sides of the country, and in a MouseOwner first, we see a Disney trip through a five year old's eyes as recorded by Mom the Scribe.
