Username change request

Hi, I'm really sorry for asking this. When I signed up for this forum, I used the same username that I've used on other Transformers forum. Now my wife is saying I should change it to something more neutral like "ScottMADVC2020".

What Goofygrl is suggesting is the easiest for you and for Admin. You only have one post to your screen name. Just create a new screen name and stop using this one. Easy-peasy fix.

Uhm, double-registering is actually against forum rules!

We also are grumpy about changing usernames. I don't see the reason here. There's nothing wrong with having the same username on multiple forums unless there is some reason you don't want to people on one forum to recognize you on another forum.

For the OP, if it's absolutely necessary, PM me.

Do they still ask for your Email when registering? I tried to change my user name once (sorry, I didn't know it was against the rules), but as soon as I put in my Email, it stopped me with "sorry, there's already a username attached to this address. My cat, Simba, had died so I felt uncomfortable and sad using his name. Now that a little time has passed, it's just a nice memory to see his name.

It's OK.

Early on in the the game, it's not a problem. Once there is a post count, we don't like it because that person's identity is confused in quoted posts with attribution being different than the current username. It looks like fraud at that point, particularly in the RTB forums.

We are generally happy to change usernames when someone uses their email address or phone number (has happened more times than I can count) as their username. Now, when I'm responsible for approving new members, I just delete them. If you're going to register with your identifying info as your username, probably not ready for forums!!

There are also, for lack of a better term, pastoral reasons to change usernames, but those are very few and very far between.
