Default Transportation to port

We are on the January 2013 member cruise. Flying in the night before just to be safe. We are thinking of renting a car to get to the hotel(we haven't booked anything yet) because we heard the Disney transportation to the port is quite expensive.

How much does Disney charge for their shuttle and is it worth renting a car to get down there? Are there any drop off rental car locations down there? Any other shuttle companies to the port?

We are also planning to stay in Disney for a few days after the cruise, but I don't think we can kep a rental car parked somewhere while we cruise...that would be a waste.

Thanks everyone!

We usually rent a car from the airport, stay overnight at an airport or resort hotel, and then drop the car off at the rental agency near Port Canaveral (there are several located down by the port). Upon return, we take the free shuttle from the ship to the car rental agency and rent another car returning it to the airport. This saves us money on transportation but it depends on the time of year.

We stay at Hyatt at the airport. Disney Transport is $70 round trip per person. No rentals, no shuttle, no hassles and the bags are all taken care of. Plus, check in for the cruise at the airport with virtually no lines.

Talking The answer is, "It Depends?"

It depends on how many you have in your party?

We have a family of 5 so shelling out $350.00 for the Cruise shuttle is a little steep and you can get one way rentals (We used ALAMO and now I see why no one survived as they were Horrible!!). We also flew in the night before and stayed at OKW. As others have posted there are several that have shuttle service from their facility to the port so I dropped everyone off at the port and then dropped car off and took shuttle back to port. 1 way rentals cost around $125 when we did it back in January 2011.
Have fun!

I agree, it depends. It may even be cheaper just to pay for parking at the port and keep the rental rather than doing two one-way rentals. It was cheaper for us to do it that way the last time we cruised out of PC.

In July, we rented two one way rentals for less than $50.00 each way through Budget. It was pretty easy, except waiting in lines at their counters.

Wondering why DH signature is Tinkerbell? While at Hoop de Doo Revue he was the Fairy(and a big one). So if all you kids are wondering who tinkerbell is?, it is him.

Default hotel

You mentioned you did not have a before cruise hotel so why not stay and the Country Inn and Suite at Cape Canaveral, with free cruise parking and shuttle it worked wonderful for us.
