Out of the blue - a phone call from DVC
In 2006, my then wife and I bought a 160 point contract directly from DVC at SSR. The following summer we added a 50 point contract from DVC.
We (or at least I) loved our DVC but a few years ago we went through a divorce and one of the casualties was that we had to sell our DVC ownership.
That being said I received a call yesterday on my cell phone from DVC in Orlando and they asked how I was doing and if I would like some information on DVC.
They acknowledged me being a previous owner and the Guide said I could buy contracts as low as 50 points to start if I wanted too.
I guess they are making cold calls and I was on the list.
Is it unusual to offer that small of a point contract?
I thought there was a minimum that was around 160 points.
btw, I asked them to send me the information. Just in case.
HOPE TO OWN AGAIN

I was cold-called too, although for the legitimate reason that I was browsing the DVC web site while logged in. I'm sure they culled my browsing history and fed it into their sales database. I'm okay with this; I'm not one of those people who rants about online privacy.
The salesman also offered me a contract as low as 50 points, which astounded me because I thought 160 was the minimum. They're desperate to sell, I guess.
In the end, though, buying resale was thousands of dollars cheaper than buying direct from Disney, and no matter how much I led the salesman on, he wouldn't (or, more likley, *couldn't*) budge from his price.
If you do buy in, I'd recommend buying resale. Hard to argue with the thousands of dollars you'll save that way.

If you are adding-on, you can add-on those small amounts.
I think if you are buying direct for the first time and you want to take advantage of the incentives ($ off per points, last UY points, etc.) you have to purchase the minimum 150, 160 whatever it is now. However, I believe (I could be wrong) that you can purchase small contracts (the first time) but at full price, no incentives.
