Red face New Renter from TX!

Hey Everyone!

I am a new member, long time Disney vacationer , very knowledgeable, but unfamiliar with DVC renting! My fiancé and I are looking to disneymoon Oct. 14th-20th, and DVC renting seems like a good option for us to save some money but not skimp on the Disney.
Looking for knowledge, advice, explaining (now of course I understand the basics and have done my homework) so any help is much loved!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

I live in central Texas!

I only rented once. I paid up front for my vacation and it was a great experience.

Which DVC do you want to stay at?

Oooh, we'll be there during that time too! We'll look for the starry-eyed lovers wearing Mickey and Minnie bride & groom ears!

Hello and welcome aboard from a fellow Texan!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and your decision to have a Disneymoon. A rental could definitely save you some money over the regular resort rates - you probably already saw that there is a Rent/Trade/Transfer Board - the tab is at the top of this screen and will have listings for people interested in renting out their points. If you haven't already done it you should check out David's Disney Vacation Rental site - he has tools that help you calculate the # of points you need for different resorts/dates and a lot of helpful information - he is also a sponsor of this board, The website is www.dvcrequest.com Good Luck!

You can also look into the Rent/Trade/Transfer Board on here.Since youa re looking for October, you are within the 7 month window so it does not matter what the renters resort is. If the room type / resort is available, any DVC member can book it for October. That said, with such short notice, you may not get your first choice room / resort. I would look for renters that have points that have to be used by end of this year. They will probably be much lower in cost since they are in a a use it or loss it state. Though expect to pay it all upfront due to timing and probably no refund if you back out.

Lastly, do some reading on DVC to make sure you know what you are getting (larger room, nice bathrooms, washer/dryer, kitchen..) and whatyou are not getting (maid service, not a contract with Disney..). You should also have an idea of where you want to stay and the points required. You can get most of that off the Rent/trade/Transfer Board. Good Luck and congradulations!!
