We have always found DTD just so dang hard to get to, and worse, home from, suing Disney Transit. A rental car is more of a hassle for us, as DS's wheelchair does not really work with most rental cars (special carseats, lifting him out of the chair, into the car, stowing the wheelchair, then the same again in reverse - oh my aching back), so the poor DTD bus service is a big issue for us. Maybe if we were staying at OKW or SSR it would be more appealing (we like boats), but aside from Raglan Road and Cirque du Soleil there's not much that we want to do there.

DTD is just something different than just the usual trove of Disney stores. I like the different shops that it has become a tradition to go to the Confectionery store for the kids to get their powerdery-sugary thing and my wife likes the Choc-Caramel Apples. I just get whatever candy or take my wife's candy apple.

The toy car store is cool that the boys have built their cars there and they go back during our annual vacation to see what new accessories are avail. The "Basin" store was cool for my wife and her friends to get those bath soaps but I guess the bad economy kept their business from staying open. And the restaurants are really good considering. It's also really neat to hear the vendors with their own music.

I have not been to the DTD in Florida, but it sounds like it's maybe twice as big as the one in Anaheim.

Default Downtown Disney

It is too crowded anymore to actually enjoy. I used to go every year and buy our special gifts, it is easier to order online nad the choices are better. My husband is handicapped and pushing a wheel chair around there is terrible. I do enjoy rainforest cafe.

Default Dtd

This is funny...we are very split on DTD at our house. I have teens and they pretty much refuse to go to DTD (too boring is what I usually hear--even from the girls who like to shop) so I usually end up going alone . I Like to stop by WPE to grab a pizza then hit all of the stores. I miss some of the activities there--would like to see some of the evening entertainment come back. Generally just make one trip per trip, but I really do enjoy the down time at DTD.

Reminds me of that old Yogi Berra quote: 'No one goes there anymore, it's always too crowded!"

although i will still complain about the parking at DTD, I have to admit a new scenario has just occurred that causes me to change my whole preception about the possiblitities and usefulness of DTD.

BIL and SIL are coming down for a cruise but are spending a few days at WDW first, but they are staying off property. can not take time off and don't want to renew our seasonal passes in order to spend a whole day with them in the park.

a dinner hook up at DTD and some people watching friday night sounds just about right.

We like taking the boat from SSR or OKW to DTD. We walk around, browse some , get a bite to eat and take the boat back. We enjoy the boat ride and it's a change from going to the parks.

Yes! We usually begin our trip at downtown to get some Legos. These last us several days and are especially good for rainy days and early evenings (after a swim).

We also enjoy browsing the new items at World of Disney. I love looking in trends, my daughter loves the little mis matched sock store, and we also stock up on candy at the candy store.

I really like the French onion soup at TREX.

DTD has lost a lot of appeal. Especially since the closed the Adventurer's Club. Kungaloosh!!!!

Otherwise, I could travel to WDW and either visit or not.

Freudian slip or fact?

We go if possible but it's not a requirement. We all love WPE (TS for the price of CS) and the Christmas store (up to 3 trees now) but I go much less than when Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse were open. We're trying HOB in May for dinner and I hope it's worth the trip. We did the gospel brunch several years ago and had a lot of fun.
