Default Downtown disney is such a waste of time

Does anyone actually go to downtown disney. It just seems like a way to get you to spend more money. What a waste of a day. Am I missing something?

Ha! When they first opened it up at DLR, we always used to walk around it the first night of our trips. It was new, so it was exciting. Now, blech, not so much. We do enjoy Rainforest Cafe for the atmosphere and the store (not the food). Other than that, it's just a a mini mall.

Two words: Raglan Road.

DD certainly isn't what it was, but it's still an enjoyable spot for us. If we stay at SSR, we'll head over several times to browse, nosh, and maybe make one dedicated night of it.

IF we're staying elsewhere, we have to really want to go. In that case, it's usually to eat at Raglan Road, or see a Fork & Screen movie at AMC (food isn't bad, it's a fun concept, and if it's a movie I want to see, I don't mind taking the time to do it on a longer trip). We've seen Cirque once and will do so again in a year or two.

However, it's not the entertainment venue it was, and I regret that. Things like Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club would have been our speedn and very repeat-worthy, but we never go there before they closed.

Usually once or twice per trip. We like to go for an hour or two - shop, or should I say browse - see what's new, etc. We might go there to kill an hour or so waiting for our room, lunch. If we are taking a break from the park one day, we might have dinner at DTD (if not one of the resorts). LaNouba, Chararacters in Flight, Chirardelli come to mind also for another reason to make a special trip there.

We go there for one reason. Older DS loves the lego store. We usually grab a bite to eat there too.

Default I'm kinda with you

We haven't been there in years, but I think we are going to do the hot air balloon and eat at Earl.

My parents rave about Earl, and based on the other reviews, It's a must do this time.

We love it!!

Usually stay at SSR and end up there most evenings for an ice cream at Giardelli's, candy at Goofy's then browse through the shops to purchase gifts etc.

We also usually eat at Rainforest Cafe and Fultons a cou[le of times during our annual 3 week vacation.

Our only gripe is that, as DVC members a discount on everything would be appreciated!!

I know what the OP means. the best part of going there is the boat ride to and from it. Nothing great but we do usual spend 1/2 day there each trip.
