I was not actually staying at Disney we are dvc members but my daughter and now son in law were staying at DVC at SSR with two friends. My daughter rang me in the UK to say her boyfriend had proposed outside the castle at the Magic Kingdom and they were engaged> We were all thrilled. I rang DVC to see if i could pay for flowers and champagne to be delivered to their room> We live in the uk so i thought it would be easier arranged through DVC.
When i rang DVC they said do not do anything they would arrange a suitable gift to be delivered to the room at no charge. I was so delighted until they came home and i said " Did you get a little surprise? " they replied NO. I wanted something special for this event and would have gladly paid Disney for flowers or anything, It was DVC that said leave it to them and then did nothing. That was my most disappinting Disney happening. We love Disney and it is 134 days until we go to AKL myself my two daughters my two son in laws and two grandchildren !!!!!!!!!! cant wait !!!!!!! |

We have SO many great memories and experiences thankfully, BUT there is one major incident that stands out as being badly handled at the time...
I booked a week in a DVC studio at AKL (Jambo house) for DBF's 30th Birthday - total surprise, organised the whole thing without him knowing including arranging time off with his boss We arrived after a very long day - up at 4am to get to airport, long trans-atlantic flight, etc. etc. Massive delay checking in, but finally get up to our room and....it was gross - the beds slept in, bathroom used (towels and toiletries), empty drinks cans on the kitchenette which had attracted some mighty large ants...and there was food in the fridge, so rancid, when we opened the fridge it stank out the studio. It took over 2 hours, for the resort to understand that we would NOT accept the room as it was, and no we wouldn't just "hang around in the corridor" while the room was cleaned. The bugs and the stink were big issues here too. Eventually they moved us, and for the rest of the week we were in a regular hotel room (no DVC kitchenette which we actually use a fair bit when on a budget break!!), and then they even tried to removed our DVC status from us for that stay!! We were even told by the CM at the desk - you're staying for free anyway... ![]() It was one of those trips, you know - where things just dont go right - "missing" dinner reservations, the cleaners took all our own big bright Disney beach towels one day (never to be seen again), on DBFs actual birthday at Toni's (his choice!) the server actually said "Oh it's your birthday? Really? Some people do anything for a free cupcake you know. Do you really want one?" DBF felt embarrased and declined it - I was so sad for him you know? But DVC did take serious note of our issues with the resort stay and fixed things - now we tend to stay a lot at Kidani and LOVE it even tho our home resort is SSR ![]() |

Our worst experience was at BWV this past Nov. I own DVC points at BWV and was really excited about being there during F&W festival. We checked in early and headed off to WS while our room was readied. Got back around 5pm, and our Boardwalk View room was horrendous (Dirty, smelled really bad).
No other rooms available, but with some pressing, they put us in a BLT studio with MK view. It was a nice room, but all of my reservations were at the Boardwalk and WS, so it was a hassle. |

My worst experience was at a dvc member thing on the dream. The salesmen running it were such over the top used car salemen it was embarassing to listen to them. Embarrassing to think i owned the product they were trying to get us to buy more of. They made me want to sell it. Fast. It was a long 3 day cruise with no castaway cay due to weather. My DH spent the whole time trying to see how much swag he could get out of those used car salemen. It wasn't much.
We ran into one of those salesmen at the Akl the other day. Still an over the top used car salesman approach. The kind who make you want to run away. And we did. Overall our dvc experiences have been great. Nothing worse then the normal stuff you can run into anywhere. |

The worst experience we had at a DVC resort was the night we went to the Pirate and Princess party at the Magic Kingdom. We left at midnight and headed back to BWV. Of course our room was up a few floors and then a loooong walk from the elevator. We finally reached our door, totally exhausted with three kids in tow. The room key wouldn't work. DH took the long walk down to the lobby, came back and we waited for the maintenance man. He finally came, tried it, and said "Yup, it isn't working." He told us the battery had died in the mechanism and he would have to replace it. In the meantime he could let us in (at this point my kids were sprawled all over the hallway). He wanted to come back and replace it and we said no, that it would be fine to wait until morning, we weren't going anywhere. Not a tragedy by any means, but at 12:45 in the morning, just not good!

[quote=wdwmom;621403]There is a way for the front desk to know your arrival and departure time - It's called online check in. When you check in on-line they ask for your arrival and departure times. Since on-line check in, we have had our rooms ready when we arrive; usually around 11am. They also know when we are leaving and should be able to clean our room shortly after we leave which is always before 11am.
Really, We did online check-in for our last stay and I specifically said 11 am check out because we had a 5 pm flight home. And as usualy we got the 9 am knock on the door "Mouskeeping"...serioulsy....annoying
