Phoenix in August? Why Not?

Yes, I got a deal. It was an II Getaway, $490 for a week in a Marriott 2 bdrm villa. August is their slow season for obvious reasons. Phoenix is within driving range of Reno...saving even more bucks. Hubby needed a break from work. We are 'sacrificing' our trip back east this summer. We go most years to see extended family. Since we both come from large families, it's extremely extended. But it's expensive to fly 4 across the continent, and since we're going to the world in December, we decided to skip the trip back east this summer. Besides, it's never really a 'vacation' more like an 'oblication.' I'm sure those of you with extended families know what I mean...anywho.

Mapquest said 12 hours, we made the drive in 10 1/2. Love those long flat, desert highways. It didn't even feel like 90 mph. But enough blah, blah, blah. Here are the highlights in picture form:
