Petty vs Violent Crime on Vacation

No vacation destination is perfect. In many places, crime is a problem. But there are different types of crime. Which problem would you consider to be worse

City A: Has practically zero violent crime. You can wander the streets day or night with no worry about any physical harm. However, pretty crime is rampant. If you keep anything in your pocket, it's pretty much guaranteed to be picked. Put you camera down for a second and it's likely to disappear. That said, most tourist who do pay attention don't have any problems.

City B: Petty crime isn't nearly as bad. The odds of getting robbed are much smaller. Tourists don't have to pay 100% attention to their possessions every minute. However, the crime isn't always non-violent. The small number of tourists who are victims of crime are often injured, or worse, in the process.
