I really disagree with this. Just because people may not enjoy the same things that you do doesn't mean that they "can't let go and enjoy.' I know many people who travel to cool and exotic places and wouldn't think of going to Disney, and they definitely know how to "enjoy." We do like Disney, but also go to many other places as well. When it comes to interesting places to go, Disney is not that near the top of the list. But no need to feel sorry for us

Seriously, overpriced and crowded amusement parks are not for everyone, even if it is Disney.

Cheers.

Great thread!

I get the "not Disney World again????!!!!" comment all the time. When I explain that I am actually very well-traveled (Europe, several cruises, Hawaii, Mexico, several islands in the Caribbean, etc. --- like I should be explaining in the first place!!), they normally say, "oh, okay, well I guess you know what you like". And this is usually from the folks who do head to the Jersey shore every year (not that there is anything wrong with that ). Funny, I never hear them having to "defend" themselves.

My late aunt used to call the Country Bear Jamboree the Teddy Bear Jamboree. I actually kind of like her take on it, but I had a heck of a time finding it the first time I visited WDW!

I don't understand why some folks do so little research before going to WDW. Heck, I am constantly reading up on WDW and I've been there 30+ times! One of my cousins thought that the singing was the show at the American Adventure in EC. She knew nothing about the "real" show upstairs. Since traveling to WDW takes a bit of money, it just seems strange to me that so many people know so little about it once they get there.

The CMs are, for the most part, fabulous. We have run into a crab every now and then, but that's life. After a long day at a hot, crowded park, we tend to be a little crabby too. But knowing we have our DVC to return to always makes us feel better!

Default No girls names on the sheriff and FD badges

Who else has been disappointed when they tried to buy a sheriff or Fire dept badge with a girl's name and found out they were all boy names? The badges are very cool and I wanted one this trip to WDW. I was in the pin store next to Country Bear Jamboree when I spied the sheriff badges. It reminded me of a trip I made as a kid to Storytown in Lake George NY. I remember watching a shootout between a sheriff and a villian. All the kids were given a sheriff's badge. I hung onto that badge forever. I had forgotten about it until I saw the ones in WDW. Then I saw another woman commenting on the same thing as she looked for a girl's name on a badge for her daughter. Her comment to her traveling companions was: Disney get with it!

I am probably much older than you. I remember the shootout just on a street no train ride.I hated trains as a child so I know I would have never rode one in storytown. Do you remember getting that huge bumpersticker on your car when you left? It was very colorful but my dad hated it. Storytown is the great escape park now. I also remember some sort of petting zoo type park in lake george where I fed deer. Can't remember the name of it. Went to lake george last year and did the fort tour, steamboat ride and hit the outlets! Nice weekend trip

I hear this all the time. People ask me if I am tired of it. They don't get it. It is no different than someone renting that same beach house every summer. We love wdw! It is so beautiful. I loved hilton head too but it isn't wdw!
