Default I Really Like "Bunheads"!

At first I was like, eh, this might be kind of treacly because it's ABC Family, but the show is really well done-it's the adult's perspective on teaching teenage girls to dance, and it's funny without being sitcomm-y.

I loathe, loathe loathe shows like "Dance Mom", but this one's nothing like it-it's definitely sort of a drama with heart kind of show. It's got a great premise.

The main character Michelle is really relatable-she's got these really snappy one-liners that you always wish you were quick enough to think of in the moment, but she's still sweet.

It just started last week, and I'm happy there's something to watch over the summer that's not a fake reality show

So, in a nutshell, it's very cool, give it a shot!

Hey, it's kind of Disney, right? ABC

I just recorded it and deleted it after I watched the first 20 minutes or so. There just wasn't enough Dance stuff for me. But you've encouraged me to go back and give it a second shot.

What is an appropriate age range for the show?

I would definitely let my 11 and 13 year old daughters watch it. There are some pretty good themes-at one point the mom in law (Fanny) is talking to Michelle (the main character) and she's asking her how she ended up dancing in Vegas, and Michelle is like, I had gifts, and I squandered them and made bad choices.

Fanny asks, do you regret it? And Michelle answers, "every day". There's so much crap on tv today that I really liked that it was talking about consequences in a non-preachy manner.

Any younger and I think the kids would be bored-it's definitely told from the adult point of view, although on the teasers it looks like there's more dancing and more teen stuff in the later episodes.

Simba's mom-there was more dancing towards the end of the ep-Michelle runs the girls through a mock Juilliard try-out, and it was pretty close to what I remember (although I never tried out for Juilliard, lol!)

I saw this on a preview and decided what the heck
and DVR'd it to watch during the day. I wasn't sure
I would like it, but figured I'd give it a shot. I enjoyed it.
I won't make DH watch it, but I think it has an interesting
twist and isn't childish. I set the DVR to record the series.

Yeah, not really a guy's show. Which is fine-it means I don't have to watch Sons of Anarchy because I have Bunheads

He tells me what happened on SoA, I tell him what happens on Bunheads-it's a win-win!

Ok, so episode 2 was kind of a bummer.

I'm holding out hope Ep 3 will be more cheery once they've gotten past all the funeral/memorial stuff.

The girls started watching with me; they liked the teen girls' characters.

I am, I still like it!

I think it's a little uneven at times-Michelle needs to figure out what she wants to do-her lack of direction is making me a little bonkers.

I don't think the teen girls are strong enough to hold their own story lines; I think they need to bring in a few more adult characters. Truly is good, Fanny is good (in small doses).

They SO need a love interest. For somebody. Anybody!

I am still watching also. The fast thinking/talking and sarcasm really reminds me of Gilmore Girls. I think if she really takes over teaching the classes it will be better. I agree about the love interest. What ever happened to the rich guy that her car broke down in the driveway of?
