Default I want to vent about the internet

In May I spent 17 out of the first 28 days in hotels. There was vacation and I ahd to move my daughter to Alabama. Since I teach online accounting courses I must have internet access. I stayed at a timeshare called Missner's place in Ft Lauderdale and it worked great. I stayed at a Day's Inn in Memphis and it worked great, it was a rinky dink little hotel and it worked great. I stayed at a resort in northern MN called Superior Shores and it worked great. I stayed at Disney's Vero Beach and it was horrible. I also stayed at Wyndham's Bonnet Creek inside Disneyworld but technically not Disney and it was horrible. How can these small resorts or hotels have such good interenet access but Disney to have such horrible internet? Do the rest of us mouse's have the same results?

Stayed at BCV and the internet was horrible. As mentioned in another thread, I was lucky to average 30kb/second. On the last day there, couldn't even connect to the wireless.

Default Internet

What I don't understand is that a little Day's Inn in Memphis can have great internet and Disney can't. I've also stayed at Orange Lake resort in Orlando and this is a huge resort and their internet was very good as well. Very puzzling that Disney can't figure it out.

Perhaps it has more to do with the amount of people trying to use it all at the same time???

Not really an excuse, I know but a possible cause! I think if you use the business offices on site you may get better speeds but I think you have to pay extra to access these areas? Haven't tried it myself so not sure.

We've stayed at some rinky-dink places that never skipped a beat. We're at Bonnet Creek now and have had zero problems (though we have our own router hooked up to the main port). At BLT last week, however, we experienced the most worthless WAN we had ever used before. Sometimes you couldn't get the authentication page to load. Sometimes pages would time out, and you had to disconnect/reconnect (without another authentication page) to get it working again. I'm fine with them offering free wifi, but they should have left the hard-line ports active.

I used the wire at SSR our first trip and it was so great then at AKL they switched to wireless and it was just okay. In April I brought my tablet and I could barely get on. It was terrible. I am not bothering bringing it anymore till I hear it is good again.

I sent a letter to Disney complaining about it and maybe more should do so and then maybe they will do something.

My family and I are heading to Orange Lake Resort in October this year then we decided rather than loose points we added 2 nights at our home resort AKV. I must ask your opinion of Orange Lake? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I also own a week at Orange Lake and we stay there quite often which will include this November. The Orange Lake internet is great. Its easy to access, and its free, and it works just fine.

I think I would rather pay a fee for an internet connection, than have one that is not reliable.

I liked the wired connection, I am bummed that it is gone. My connection to work is such, that even a blip in connectivity means I have to re-enter credentials, and re-start any sessions to specific applications.

The internet fee on the cruise ship was so high, that I avoided connecting for a full week. I managed just fine.
If my employer had needed me, they would have paid for the connection.

IF Disney is going to deliver things like check out documentation, via email, they do then have some obligation to provide a reliable network.
