Online Check in ?

What has your experience been with online check-in and getting your requested room/area of resort? Thanks.

We have had great luck but I do the request when booking not during on-line check-in.. I also want to say my request are easy , mostly ground floor near DSA so DW can get to smoking area easy.

I'm interested in this July trip at BLT as to what I will end up with.

I also know that even if the room is assigned until you check in they can pull it out from under you no matter how you check-in. We had this happen when we had 2 studios booked and DM coming in the next day for hers . Cm couldn't give exact room but circled area and said both were in that arae. Well next day she arrives and we go to check them in and there room was showing all the way on opposite side of jambo. Funny thing was it was the same CM and she knew it got pulled out from under us. She found another room after going into the back that was on our same wing . But just goes to show until you have key in hand nothing is set.

We don't make requests often but this last trip to SSR we did ask for Congress Park. I made that request when I booked it with MS. I was so anxious about it that I insisted we arrive early just in case it wasn't honored, figuring that we could request it again and wait if we needed to. We got room #1101, it was ready, on the ground floor, the absolute closest room to DTD. It was perfect.

We did on-line check in. It went off without a hitch.

Can you explain this more? Do you think you have less control when you do on-line check-in? I'm a newbie and trying to learn everything I can. We've only made one trip so far with DVC, but I always used OLCI when we were doing cash reservations. Is it different for DVC?

When we check-in, if we don't like our room or building, we'll change rooms.

Will they not let you change rooms if you've done the online check-in?

We've changed rooms when we have done OLCI. It's not a problem and I am very picky about my room.

Works great every place but BCV. There, where I had no requests, it was a disaster. Once they assign you to a room they won't even bother to LOOK for anything else, You will wait.(I felt like I was dealing with the Soup Nazi!) So after 8 hours at 5:30 or 6 I asked for a manger. (he's the one who confessed when I said "you mean to tell me that since you do rooms in first come first serve order no one else had gotten a 1 bedroom in 8 hours")

Best part, the family in my room had extended. The front desk told them they could stay in the same room but since "we don't change preassigned rooms" was the chant no one even realized this! (I did get a free meal, but )

So I use it everyplace else But I have no requests....
