September Pin Event at EPCOT.....anyone heard anything? - The DVC Boards at MouseOwners.com - the place to talk DVC and Walt Disney World

I know there is usually a pin trading weekend at EPCOT the weekend after Labor Day. Last year it was called The Florida Project, another year Pin Trading University.

I called last year in October to book for what I'm guessing would be this years Pin event because nothing had been mentioned yet. After all, it was still early since the 2011 one had just happened.

My question is, has anyone heard anything about it? Based on what I see on the Disney blog and the pin site, the first mention of the event wasn't until February. Anyone who does this regularly know if this is when we can expect to see some news on the 2012 event?

I have heard nothing.

This is one of those on going pet peeves i have against Disney. They wait way to long to announce any events. Makes it really hard for DVC owners to book rooms.

Yeah, you're so on the money on that one. On some of these events, I never understand what the hold up is because they do it EVERY year.

It's like....we know there's going to be a marathon every year in Jan. We know there's going to be the Halloween Party and the Christmas Party. We know they'll have the Processional. We know there's going to be a F&W and F&G. Why oh why does it take so long to post dates???

I mean, I can understand not saying who is going to do what on those dates. We may not be able to get Gary Sinese to read in Orlando, but he can do it in CA. Whoopi is on vacation this year and can only do this or that for us on these dates. Chef so and so can't do this time of year but can do that time.

I mean Je-su, can't we still pick dates and worry about the details later?

*gets off rant box*

I missed the Florida Project last year because I wasn't actually tracking the blog or the pin site and by the time I realized the event existed we were booked for October. Same with the room for 1 more, couldn't afford to do it even though we were going to be down there on the short notice I had. Had I been in the know and been monitoring those sites, I could have planned better. So this year, I joined the blog and have been reading the pin site occasionally.

Still, how much you want to bet we don't even hear about the event until March or so?

What blog and pin site(s)? We love trading pins but are still at the novice level I'm sure.
