Disney parks stop scans for topless riders
Incidents of guests baring breasts for souvenir photos *are rare*

updated 5:33 p.m. ET, Tues., May 5, 2009
ANAHEIM, Calif. - Disney says it will no longer scan riders on Splash
Mountain and three other rides for guests who feel the need to flash
their breasts for souvenir photos.

Disney confirmed Tuesday that it has reassigned employees at Disneyland
and Disney's California Adventure who watched for breast-baring riders
because "actual inappropriate behaviors by guests are rare."

Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the changes took effect Sunday
at Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain and California
Screamin'.

Riders are photographed on the attractions and can then buy souvenir
copies. Some have exposed their breasts in hopes that the picture would
make it onto a photo preview screen at the ride's exit.

FYI - In case any one is wondering, no we will not be posting pictures of the "rude" behavior!

I have been to Disneyland all my life, and in the last 10 years two to three times a year; I have never witnessed it, let alone hear of it! It must be very rare! It is very unfortunate.

I was thinking the same thing. The press release should have started, "For all you kids who never thought to do this..."

For all you California haters, WDW eliminated its photo reviewer first. Apparently Florida has the same problems with inappropriate photos and was the first to decide cost cutting was more important than the family atmosphere at the park. Disneyland was only following WDW's lead.

As noted by the previous poster, from Al Lutz's 4/21 Micage column...

"What might be the most interesting, and was also used as a Talking Point, is the most infamous response for Disneyland Cast Members. And that is; "They do it in Florida." Apparently the Florida version of Splash Mountain's Owl Photo has been without an editing Cast Member for several months now. While the management there is aware of a few unfortunate scenarios playing out on the big preview screens in the exit with plenty of upset visitors, word on that change in Florida has not really gotten out publicly yet."

I can attest to the fact that some of the pictures floating around have actually been in circulation since at least the late '90's

Something that I didn't see mention was that these CMs weren't just the hooter police, they also looked out for idiots flying the bird as well as anything else I guess could happen that wouldn't be family friendly.

How often could this possibly happen?? Even if someone tries, it's gotta be pretty hard to time it so that it actually gets photographed.

The odds of winning the lottery are probably better than the odds of this occuring while your actually on one of the above mentioned rides.
