Default Two Weeks of BWV and HHI

I have two words for my recent trip…

Zebra Domes!

OK, so I’ll share more than these 2 words, but honestly, these delightful little darlings were a highlight, along with the whole Boma experience, a first for the TW1’s.

Week one started off with a Welcome Home at the Boardwalk immediately followed by a YOMD room upgrade to a fifth floor pool view down a very short corridor. Our first trip to BWV instantly became a very memorable trip.

Rest of the week was virtually flawless. Our only other YOMD experience was a day of FastPasses at MGM.

OK, so we haven't been since Aug '05 so there were several firsts (and lasts) this trip:
1) Figment and Drew Carey’s Sounds Dangerous, which I’d been avoiding all these years, and will permanently avoid in the future
2) Boma which we all loved followed by a swim in the AK Lodge pool – ho-hum
3) BWV a first and will most definitely not be the last
4) new POTC was fab
5) Monsters Inc Laugh Factory – another ho-hum
6) Ellen Degeneres(sp?) in the Land still has a broken video segment going on 7+ years (why?)
8) Expedition Everest was a first and scored big with us
9) Crush & Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon also a big hit
10) two Members Parties (at the Boardwalk Dance Hall and ‘Savannah’ near BCV) were worth the 20 minutes we gave each and for the free gifts
11) Nemo’s ride was fun
12) finally will Test Track ever work properly?

Week two was in our home resort - Hilton Head - and was just about as perfect as ever. CMs there are the best I’ve ever encountered (long rant about a CM at MK guest services will wait for another post.) Resort is in great shape, lots of continuing improvements and upgrades. New towel policy was a plus for us, though not sure how others view it. I’m sure on the DIS management of HH is being vilified though I applaud their efforts.

Finally, two words about recycling. Why Not? Why does Disney not promote, even attempt to recycle anything? What the heck! No where at WDW or HH is there even a mention of recycling. This trip was the first time I’ve ever seen overflowing trash cans at WDW and all were overflowing with plastic water bottles, truly overflowing, bottles rolling all over the ground...and all mixed in with regular trash. So my though is all those dining plans are giving people a 20 oz water every day and they gladly take them, but there is no place to recycle all those bottles. Why not?

Wow, sounds like you had a grand time! I wish I could pull myself away from work for more than one week at a time. However, I need to keep them thinking that I am "irreplaceable". If I take two weeks off, the jig is up.

Welcome Back!!!!
I guess with that upgrade and the zebra domes and all, you're gonna keep your guide, huh?

I did n't mind not 'taking part ' in the yOMD stuff last two trips, and jiggerji and family kept me happy by sharing theirs, but I think I'd really like to get a little something, if only a fast pass or a cupcake, this trip. I think it's cuz I never get to the parks very early in the morning...at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

But yep, a little thing like a night in the castle or a couple hundred point contract would be a welcome addition to my visit! Of course, I really liked the hat I rec'd at the Welcome Home meet and I have $50 for showing up at a DVC 'tour' that wasn't even a tour...(yep I think we were the only people I ever heard of to get money for visiting my guide!)

Well, didnt mean to ruminate on your thread TW...glad you're back and that you had a great trip!

I thought pool hoping wasn't alowed at AK? Has that changed with the new DVC section at AK?

I'm glad you had a great trip and thanks for the report.

It probably isn't allowed. It was our first visit to AKL and after dinner we went for a look around. Once outside, the pool just looked so darn inviting and was virtually empty - maybe three kids and a handful of adults just lounging around. So, I ran back to the car, grabbed the kids suits and in they went. We probably only spent about 30-40 minutes there and it was empty, so in my mind little to no harm done.

Honestly, I was not that impressed with the pool area. It's just a pool. An attractive area, yes, but not a highly themed pool area. And sitting pool side at AKL was the only place in WDW that I've ever been bitten by mosquitos. Odd? Not sure, but it was a hot August night, around dusk, probably prime mosquito feeding time, but the rest of the trip and any previous trip I'd never felt like I was actively swatting mosquitos like we were that night. I did wonder of the presense of the animals made a difference. Maybe they can not be as aggressive with pest control management.

Anyway kids enjoyed the swim and we'll go back to Boma for sure.
