Since the cruise is only 81 days away how many from this board are going to be aboard when the ship departs on Oct 21st?
We did not get the first call but we did get the 2nd chance call and at that point they only had cat 8,9 and 10.I choose the cat 10 room since we have sailed before and I wanted to save some points and money.
We will be flying in Oct 19th for 2 nights at the new AKV in a savannah view studio.I have a 1bedroom at SSR starting a night before we get back for 4 nights. My 2 oldest daughters are flying in the day before we get off the ship so they have a night for themselves.

ASMo is All Star Movies. I had booked our 3 night stay after the cruise there and then I had a genius moment this past Sunday to borrow points for a studio stay.

We are going to fly down on the 19th also. We originally were flying on the 20th from WA state but had to do a mad scramble for tickets when Midwest changed schedules and our trip with them was going to take 2 days starting on the 20th! I am using Marriott reward points to stay near the Cape...a shuttle launch is scheduled on the 20th. Unfortunately with the change in our flight plans coming so late I couldn't get 2 nights in one location so we start at the courtyard in Cocoa Beach and then move to the Residence Inn right outside the port entrance.

When are you all leaving on the 28th? It's looking like we might miss the after cruise party opportunity with both of you at the world. After the cruise we'll be in a 1 BR at VB for 3 nights until the morning of 10/28 and then we come to the world the day you all are leaving for a 2 Br stay at VWL until 11/2. I hope to get there around 10am, but it depends on how fast I can get a 4 and 1 year old to move to morning!

I just joined this site and I'm so excited! My whole family is going on the cruise! Mother, Mother in law and 3 kids and hubby and I. Hubby, youngest daughter and I are arriving Friday the 19th and Mothers and two of our daughters are flying in Saturday night. We're staying until the 1st of November it's our first trip to Disneyworld!! I can't wait!! We just moved to Nebraska from Northern California and we had gone to Disneyland 28 times one year in So California. Needless to say I am counting down the days! We have 2 adjoining rooms and I'm ready to relax Disney style! Has anyone done the member cruise before? I heard it's really nice!

This will be our third member cruise. Make sure you take an extra bag for all the goodies. Last year (I think) each person in the stateroom got these giant hat boxes. They were not easy to pack.

Luckily we are driving so we can just put stuff in the van. One of the benefits of those really loooooong road trips from MI.

Not to highjack this thread but I have heard SOOOOOOOOOO many negatives about the DVC cruise.

I see this is your third so you must enjoy it. Any comments from a happy cruiser?

Thank you.

I'm not sure what kind of compliants that you have heard, but we love it. There are a lot of things to do (like a regular Dis cruise), but then there are also things that are DVC only. The only thing we didn't like last year was a sales presentation that took forever (anything that is longer than an hour is too long). On the first DVC cruise we took, we were the first to buy more points and that got us a invite to a cocktail party in the Walt Disney suite and a private dinner with Jim Lewis with 10 other DVC members in Palo's private room. Delish!!! The only other thing we would like is to have a different port of call than Castaway Cay for 2 days. In 2005, the first stop was Key West and we loved that too. We are pretty easy to please as you can tell. If you want more details, just let me know.

Thank you. Nice to hear some positive feelings on this cruise.

What I had heard is that it is expensive and the focus of the cruise is sooooo sales orientated that it turned a lot of people off. Personally I considered it but decided not to because (no offense) cruising with all DVC members seemed a little scary to me. We decided that if we should choose DCL that we would choose dates that meet our schedules and save some dough.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope the next one is even better.

Our time is limited to the cruise days only. We have a home college football game on Saturday so we have to wait until Sunday morning to fly down then we have to fly home right after the cruise on Thursday. Back to work on Friday. :judge: And then another football game on Saturday.

We love our Purdue Boilermaker football and Saturdays are a great time in a Big 10 town. Love that tailgating and visiting with football friends. We can't miss a game! Plus we take four or five other long stays at WDW during the year including 8 days at Thanksgiving and 16 days at Christmas-New Year's. So we will get our Mickey fix soon enough. Bon voyage everyone.

We will be on our first member cruise this year and we are very excited. Sales is part of the world. If you are NOT interested in a sales presentation you do not have to sign up. This is a cruise so anything goes, if I am not happy with what is going on I can leave and do something else. Why are DVC owners scary? That statement bewilders me:confused:

Hear that zipping noise???????? That is me putting on my flame proof suit.........

Okay, why do I find DVC owners scary?

I don't know exactly but I'll do my best to sum it up. Think of a Star Trek convention. MANY of those attending are regular nice people. Put them all together and they come off as very scary, IMO. DVC cruise strikes me the same way. Also, I just don't find DVC owners to be a very diverse group. Mainly middle aged, white and from the Eastern US. We like to meet diverse people and I'm pretty sure a DVC cruise isn't going to do it for us. I just find large groups of people with a common bond a little scary. Hard to put my finger on why though. I think I've done enough damage with that.:footopenm

I'm just not sure why anyone would do the DVC cruise????? I mean, pay more, be subjected to rah, rah, DVC rethoric and sales pitches??? Call me crazy but I can think of a better choice for a cruise. Also, having to schedule the cruise when they decide to hold a DVC cruise isn't flexible enough for us. I don't want to hear anything about sales, DVC, whatever. The only sound I want to hear is the ocean and the sound of me ordering another drink. :margarita

More power to those that go and enjoy it. I've heard enough to know that it isn't for us, that is all.

Have a great cruise.:goodvibes

Hi Dave, I will address this by saying that I love my DVC memberships and that being around other DVC'rs seems like fun to me. I will let you know in a week if I am right. I also like the prospect of being with folks who will know what I am talking about when I say I love being a DVC member. Also the prizes aren't bad either.

You're right about me. I am middle aged and white, but so are a very large number of Americans. If you said this kind of remark, calling out a particular race or age group, about any other large group of Americans you could be be called a bigot. This is a public forum, and I know you didn't mean to sound this way, but I suggest you edit that remark.

I am not what the pp would call a typical DVCer. I am a single female no kids that bought into DVC when I was 32 (wanted when I was 23, but couldn't swing it then). I love it. There is more diversity in DVC than you think. Open your mind a little. I am also from the Midwest (GO BLUE). This is our 3rd DVC cruise and we will do more in the future. There are less kids on these cruises on average than most cruises due to the dates. Plus the freebies are great.
