Oh help me! Now I'll have to go!:faint:
We joined the one less than a mile away. They have a great club type area for the kids, so I'll have no excuse!
I'm just getting over pneumonia, though, so I'll have to take it easy for a while. I'm perusing the lists of classes trying to decide what to do....... yoga always sounds good!

Congrats!!!
I love yoga! It's great, pilates too. My favorite exercises!
DON'T start a workout program until you feel better. Give your body a chance to get better. You'll make yourself sicker

That's what I've been wondering - how much time to wait to really get into the work outs? They have the pilate and the yoga! I'm excited about that..... I'm still coughing a bit - but better - I'm definately getting to use the membership, though - DS is taking advanced swim lessons starting tomorrow so that he can qualify for their swim team, and the kids can go use the pools whenever. But I have this urge to start using the equipment and classes NOW so that I'm not wasting money! Hence why I paid in the first place! Dh is no help.... "Now you have to go everyday to make this worth it!" You know he's got perfect butt on the brain.... like that'll ever happen!:beaniepro

If you are still coughing, don't do anything that resembles cardio, at least more than gentle walking. A beginner yoga class might be alright but listen to your body and stop if it feels like too much. By the way, you're exercising for health: you already have beauty down pat! Tell your DH that:Pokepoke:

You're so sweet.....actually, DH is ownderful about it, he's never said a word about any post-child flab I have. And that green flight gear i have on covers it sooooo effectively! I really do want to get healthy again. I'm hoping if I really start exercising (I haven't done it in years) maybe these bouts of the flu and pnuemonia won't happen! I want to kick my immune system back on-line! I'm thinking shots of wheat grass juice are in order as well... but yuck!:thumbsway

Did a yoga class this morning - luckily it wasn't a power yoga - because normal was quite enough for my lungs! I came home so tired - I fell asleep on the couch for 2 hours and then woke up coughing up gunk forever. That may actually be a good thing! I feel better now but got absolutely nothing done today! Loved the yoga class!
I'm going to take a 'Beginners" class tomorrow morning - the class today was a mixed level - they were wonderful and nice - but I'd feel more comfortable there after learning more of the poses on my own.
Looked over at the marathon thread - heavy sigh......
Good luck Carrie!

Congratulations. The hardest part of any work-out is the drive to the gym. Make sure that you have some realistic goals, and some incentives. That really helps me.

The gunk does need to come up as long as your health stays strong! I think beginners yoga is best too while you get fully recuperated:goodvibes

I would love to try yoga... There's a place near us - maybe I'll check it out!
In the meantime my company just built this unbelievable gym IN MY BUILDING!! I tried it out yesterday for the first time... I admit it was hard to walk into the large room, in front of co-workers in work out clothes! I've put on about 40 lbs since my sister died a year ago... it's time for THAT to get off now and start living again!
So, I did the treadmill ( 1 mile at 3.0) rowing machine and bench press... just little baby steps....... I need to be in better physical shape in...
how long is my countdown now? by then!
ps - glad you got some gunk out.... do they have you doing lung exercises? like blowing into tubes etc?

Good for you, Sue! It is great they have a gym for you; I am sure I would be self-conscious too though! Keep going for it; I think our health is a priceless asset:blueflowe

Just lift heavy things often. Stick with anarobic. Build muscle mass.
Don't waste heartbeats now that you'll need for your golden years.
