I am so excited for this upcoming May trip as it will be my first trip 'home " to the Boardwalk Villas.

Having never stayed there I am curious to which views/locations your prefer over others and why?

I am sure to be driving all you guys crazy for the next few months as I gear up for the Boardwalk!!!! :) :)

TIA! :)

Which room category are you booked into?

I have a guaranted Boardwalk view. First time so thought I would go for it! But I have heard that people actually prefer the standard views so I was wondering why. Is it because of points? Are the standard views just as nice as a Boardwalk view? Just wondering! :)

I think it's just because of the points. The rooms are the same; just what is outside your window is different.

I would like to know too. I think in Jan of 07 we will be trying out the BW and want to know which catergory everyone prefers and why?

Is it one of those things where everyone has to try the BW view at least once? What kind of views do the standard rooms have?

I think some people also book the Standard View to have a bit quieter experience. The BW view obviously has some activity going on outside your room much of the day. Most of the other Preferred View rooms overlook one of the two pools. Depending on the time of day and year you could have some pretty noisy folks outside your room there, too.

If you've ever been to the BW, you know that the entrance is a big horseshoe-shaped drive. All of the rooms on the right hand side of the entrance are DVC villas while the Inn rooms are to the left. All of the villas that face directly at that entrance are Standard View. There are also some SV rooms closer to the BoardWalk, back where the large 'tent' used to stand that was part of the DVC sales center. That building has since been removed and the land converted to a croquet green. We stayed in this area last May. It had a very nice view, but was about the single furthest spot in the resort from both MGM and Epcot.

We'll be making our second stay in a Standard View room in a couple of months. I have to admit that 95% of the reason we're staying at the Boardwalk is because I was able to get the SV room with its lower point requirements. If BW SV hadn't been available, we would have been just as happy to stay at Saratoga Springs.

That said, I'm sure sometime in the next few years we'll splurge on a BW view room, too. Maybe after our first add-on. :)

HI jiggerji...

We have a standard studio booked for May. Mar has a standard one-bedroom.
I think for both of us it is beause of the points savings.
But I would like to have a boardwalk view, at least once! I like my morning coffee on the balcony, and I think an evening cabernet while watching the boardwalk activities would be fun.

I would never want to spend the extra points for a pool view though, and that is all that they had when I called back to waitlist from standard to BW.

Of course, I know that with you, Pam and Mar to 'hang with', that we'll have fun no matter!

Are you looking at the dining plan option? I'd never usually think about it, but Pam and Mar have made a bunch of dinner ressies, and I'm thinking that it might be a good deal after all....of course there is the DDE to factor in too which includes drinks. Hmmmm.

I might even try ME this trip, tho I love having a car. Decisions, decisions!
And I still want to talk you into the Segway tour!!

Last time we stayed at the BWV, we had a SV room and it was very nice. We were looking right at the circle drive. I was very pleasantly surprised, though, because there'a a lot of lawn between you and the drive, so it wasn't noisy, there was a lot of vegetation and landscaping, and I think the drive is pretty anyway. We could see the parking lot if we went out and looked to the right for it, but otherwise it didn't feel like you were looking at the lot. We'd definitely do it again (and are, as we're booked there for next fall!).

We have used ME and have had no problems! I never go off site so I dont really know what else is out there! :) We are going to have to do a grocery stop this trip so Tiffany will bring us. They were wonderful this past Nov. trip and even stopped, after grabbing some groceries, to let me run in and see if Tom was over at the Timeshare Store. He wasn't :( but WOW What a gift basket!

I agree the Segway tour would probably be tons of fun but have to see about the rest of the clan!!

I believe you have this backwards unless I am misunderstanding something. If you stand facing the Resort from the horseshoe shaped driveway the villas are on the left and the inn rooms are on the right. :)

Definitely yes, looking forward to it tremendously!

I have mixed reasons for going with Standard view at BW by the way. The main one is definitely the point savings. I am not looking out all that often when I am in the room. If I want a view I can go outside and stand on the boardwalk and look. The second reason is what Tim mentioned--I don't like the noise factor on the BW. That being said, someday I will have to try at BW room at least once.

I am sure someone must have mentioned the long hallways at BWV to you sometime Laura. But just in case be aware you can be a good distance from the elevator. Usually those rooms are VERY close to MGM though (except for the ones Tim referred to). If you are far from the elevators usually the fastest way to get anywhere is to use the steps, I highly recommend that. But hey don't worry--I will be there with you and you'll have your own personal tour guide to show you the ropes! :goodvibes

I've stayed in all views SV and BW PV and Main Pool PV.

The Main Pool one was very noisy - right on into the night - so I definately never want that location again.

The BW view once was over the store on the 2nd floor and then almost to the Crest of the Wave on the 5th floor. The 5th floor was a great view of the entire lake and Illuminations over ESPN. Neither were especially noisy.

The SV was a 2br on the 5th floor, across from where the ME buses stop. That was great with a decent view of Illuminations over the top of the BWI. Then a studio on the 3rd floor that was behind two trees, so not much to see, but still quiet.

While I do take the SV when I want to save on points, I would definately take the BW view too if I was feeling "points flush".

:bouncingc And I do love this smilie. Sometimes, I'm not all there myself......
