Just wondering if you have ever just "went" to Disney on a spur of the moment whim?

When I purchased the addon within a week I had the airfare booked ($49 ea way) and was on my way!

I usually really enjoy the getting ready and the anticipation but it was just great to just go!

Sounds like great fun!! I have always had at least several months to anticipate:sunny: I sure wouldn't mind an impromptu trip!

All the time! Last one was a few weeks ago, within a week before departure I'd booked the flight on points, booked SSR but waitlisted for OKW; my waitlist came through, and I lined up two friends to come for part of the trip!! :beaniepro

In April I did somethign similar: booked a flight on points a week before, and arranged to rent points from a DVC member.

I'm the queen of last minute trips.......

And last January I had a hankering to use up my soon-to-expire AP, so on a Thursday I checked flights, booked the flight Friday afternoon, and left Friday night.........

:hammer:

A good Southwest ding comes my way and I am there! :) :)

We did WDW/DCL 6 weeks out in 04. That was spur of the moment for us!

Our most impromptu trip was about 2.5-3 months. We went in the last week of September '02 and a few weeks after our return had decided to go back in January '03.

We live about 1100 miles away, so I doubt there are any real pick-up-and-go trips in our immediate future.

Twice:

In 2002 did an add-on in October and could not bank the points. So we just called MS and said we needed to come down in December. Nothing available in DVC and the CM put us on every waitlist possible (they do this manually for each resort :computers - bless her). So 30 days out nothing has opened up and I am on the phone with another CM who commented that you are waitlisted everywhere in the world. I explained why and she asks if we would be willing to do a WDW resort instead. I said that AKL would be nice and to my surprise she could confirm a SV room for the dates we needed -- more points than I wanted to use but what the heck. Great trip but very odd. We took a private (and I mean the onley ones on the ride private) ride on Pirates during the evening Christmas party. Then had a cold monsoon for our day at Epcot and evening at CP.

In 2003 I was planning a long weekend at Hershey for our 25th anniversary. Two weeks before the trip I got this crazy idea to surprise my wife with a trip to Disney. Emailed DU and tried to get an AP rate at the Contemporary (where we honeymooned with a lagoon view tower room for $35/night :jawdroppi ). Alas not possible, but could do it at Poly. Okay, now could I get FF tickets? Yes, but only in FC and only if we added a fifth night. Put a hold on that reservation and went back to DU to see if we could get a fifth night. We could. Okay so air and resort were in place. Called wife and asked what she was doing the Tuesday after anniversary -- doctor's appointment :crymeariv Okay any chance you could change it without asking me why :innocent: Okay all set but had to make up story about problem with Hershey reservations and we were going elsewhere. Emailed our town car service and set it up with them -- surprise for wife do not mention the resort when you pick us up. She realized it was Disney when we got to our gate at the airport but did not guess the resort at all!!!! The town car service then surprised us with a limo for the return trip back to the airport!
