Rob Doughty, Vice President of Communications for the Disneyland Resort released this statement concerning the Tuesday morning fire at the Grand California Hotel.

At approximately 3 am today, the Christmas tree in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort caught fire and was quickly extinguished. Approximately 2,300 Guests were evacuated from the hotel and were temporarily housed in the Convention Center of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the Hyperion Theater, where they were provided with blankets, pillows, food, beverages, diapers, baby formula and other essentials. Two Guests were treated for minor injuries (one for a strained back and the other for anxiety from the evacuation) and were released at the scene. All guests returned to their rooms before 7 am. To acknowledge their inconvenience, all Guests will be credited for a one night stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. The Anaheim Fire Department and the Disneyland Resort are conducting thorough investigations to ensure that this type of fire does not happen again.

They had a fire alarm at GC in September when we were there. It was early am when it happened. We were out for about 20 minutes before the fire department cleared the property.
