How many people are interested in doing a gift exchange during the MO meet? (By the way, I am splitting this thread off from the campfire sing-a-long as it was hard to determine interest in this possible event.) Time and place for this are TBA; (it probably will be at the same place/time as another event though.)

Something I have seen successful in the past is this: We play a (Disney?) trivia game to decide who goes get to pick the next gift. The winner of the question then chooses any gift in the gift pile or any gift already choosen by another person. This person then cannot play trivia until/unless this gift is taken by another winner. This continues until all gifts in the pile are gone (which means all players will have a gift...of course they may have gone through ten gifts to end with that specific one).

We could also do a separate exchange for kids, but kids' gifts seem very age dependent to me. I think for my own, I will just bring a wrapped gift specifically tailored to them.

I also suggest the following:

a max-allowed cost of $25/gift
one gift per person entering the exchange
home made gifts are allowed
If you want to do a gag gift, it can be given at the same time as this event, but should be separate from the exchange.

Please give me any suggestions and let me know if you are interested in the exchange, the game with the exchange, or just wish me to modify the guidelines. I will keep this updated with the names of those who are interested.
Thanks!

People interested in exchanging gifts:
Mr and Mrs Skelster (2) (yes to game)
Colorado Belle (Yes to game)
idratherbeinwdw (maybe)
Simba's Mom (maybe)
Stimpy (maybe)

Depending on where and when I may be interested. But I can't commit until I know the details.

I think it might be fun! I was wondering about a Disney themed gift exchange-maybe a theme park souvenier? A DVC thing? Or maybe something from our hometown or state? I guess I'm a cheapskate, though-after paying for Illuminations viewing, segway, meals (none of which I mind), $25 seems a little high (Boy, do I sound like a whiner here!) But, come to think of it, how can you get a Disney souvenier for less than $25? If it's before Thursday, I can do it, but I leave Thursday AM. How about at the get-together Sunday evening? Just a thought.

I'd love to do a gift exchange.
Like the idea of the Disney trivia!!!
Maybe a price tag of $15-$25 would fit into more budgets?
Like the idea of a Disney -related gift, too.

Anytime is fine by me!

We're leaving Wednesday night, so if it's before then, I'd be interested :)

I like the Disney theme gift, but I also like the Home State theme too. I think there could be some interesting things from other states.

A few thoughts on this:

Looking at events before Thursday, I see 3 events we could possibly do this at. Illuminations, Osbourne Lights, and the Welcome meet. Looking at people who have signed up at the various events, welcome has 12 groups signed up, Osbourne 11, and Illuminations 14. Even though Illuminations has more, I am leaning toward the welcome meet. The welcome meet didn't actually require sign ups so more may be coming than just the 12 groups and if we go for the game option, it seems to be the most suitable locale. If it is not going to be a game style thing, then I would probably suggest having it during Illuminations.

As far as gift cost, I wasn't trying to say you had to spend that much or even close to it. I was trying to say not to spend too much. I guess everyone has a different definition of too much. To be honest, I already have a thought for our gift and it would be hand-made with a disney (although I could easily switch to home state) theme and probably is no more than $5 for materials. We can adjust the upper limit down if that is what the consensus ends up being.

Thanks all
