Hi -
I'm not sure where to post this but I'm hoping to find out which DVC members are running the half marathon this year. Is there a thread I'm missing?
All the best,

Hi Shontell! From being on our new Mick-boxing forum, I know that Chimera is entered into the half marathon and Carrie is running the full marathon:faint:
Are you doing the half?

Yes, I'm doing the half marathon with 4 friends. I know some other boards had lists and meets so I was hoping we would have one here for DVC Members.
Should we designate this as one?
Thanks for the replies, ladies!

I'm going to move this to the exercise forum, since that seems a little more appropriate.
I have no idea where Carrie is. Anybody know? I thought she was supposed to be back by Tuesday.

Hey Kim. You got my hint very well:highfive: I was hoping someone would move this thread...
I was also hoping that Carrie would notice it. All I can say is she must be having terrible withdrawal symptoms by now...I know she must miss all of us:goodvibes :beaniepro

Forgive me for going MIA? I have missed you all. 3 1/2 days of chaos, potential company coming after we returned to the aftermath that shopping, wrapping and packing left at home. An entire day of laundry and cleanup and a day of returing and sizing items brings me to now. :faint:
Shontell - I am doing the full and will be watching the half. Chimera's chip is plugged in to updat my cell. The only other marathoner we have is TEK224. We do not have a specific DVCBoards/MouseOwners meet set up as we were fairly well established in other teams before this site was up and running. Chimera will be at Trails End for teh Friday DIS meet, we will both be at the Saturday night Tag O'Hana meet and I will be at a Monday morning DIS breakfast. I think Diane was also trying to get people together on Friday. A bunch of us are hoping to attend teh post-race celebration SUnday, but I don't know of anything formal set up. Let me know if you want more details.
Good luck!!!

I think Terri's (TEK224) is also going to be at Trails End on Friday evening. We're planning to be there at 4:00 on Fri, Jan 6 for meet n greet, then we have ressies starting at 4:30 for dinner. I think we have 10 extra seats if you'd like to join us and bring the family :) Just look for the lime green WISH team sign. There's other DVC members amongst the team, though none that I've seen on this board.

Carrie & Mel,
Thanks so much for the info! I was hoping for a Friday night get together so I'm going to check with the rest of the gang and see if we can make it to Trails.
I better ask though...is the Friday night a "DIS" meet? I don't want to offend anyone if it's a "sponsored" type event.
Looking forward to seeing you on the run!
All the best,
Shontell

Friday night is DIS WISH team, but I don't think DIS is doing anything for it. Mel made the ressies. I think there iwll be a WISH board mod there, but I just cannot imagine her having a problem with any estras showing up. Guess you never know though.
SOunds like Mel and I will see you Saturday wither way, though!

It's not an official DIS sponsored event, though we all met on the board. I have a ressie for 30 in my name, so you could come as my guest :) If you feel a little weird about joining in the dinner festivities, feel free to come by for the meet n greet. We're all going to meet outside TE around 4pm, so you could come by just to hangout before the dinner.

I raise my water bottle to all of you! (well ok isn't not all water, there's some yeast and hops and stuff brewed in there...)
Best of luck to all marathoners. You inspire us all!

Thanks for the concern. :flowerfor I'm pretty sure that Carrie and her DH are okay. I didn't catch them at the finish, but did see them at BCV which was in mile 25. They looked pretty good! I got a text message that Carrie finished, but I'll let her share her fabulous time for the full! I also saw Terri in EPCOT for mile 25 looking pretty good, too!
My half time was 3:09:19!

Way to go, Chimera (Mel)!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of you:grouphug: Please tell us more when you get back. Your time was great, you definitely got under the pace you set for yourself. How did it feel to go that far?
Have fun!:D

Thanks everyone :grouphug:
It's pretty amazing to do this! This time last year, I was walking about 1.75 miles on the treadmill 2 or 3 days a week (or less :worried: ) . To go from that to finishing 13.1 miles is indescribable :jawdroppi
It would be cool to have a Mouseowners.com team for 2007...who wants to come?:D

I can never decide if marathoners are smart for exercising, etc or crazy for running so far!
I want to do the 1/2. It is one of those "before I die" goals, so maybe 2007 will be the perfect year! (then I think...new baby...2 other small children....big ole behind that would really need work to get in shape....blah blah blah lol)
Decisions....decisions!

Congratulations Chimera! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did and didn't have hypothermia along the way. :-)
Anybody thinking about doing this, I would strongly encourage you to go for it! While I am a "one and done" half marathoner...it was on my life list and boy do I feel great about the accomplishment.
All the best,
Shontell

Congrats Shontell!!! I know you are proud of your accomplishment! I think the experience of seeing so much behind the scenes would be amazing in itself...then throw in actually completing a marathon or a 1/2 is AMAZING!
Way to go!

My bib number is 24514!
Come on y'all, sign up for 2007! I didn't run the whole way, I trained in intervals, 3 min walking, then 2 min running. I have some other teammates who walked the whole thing. It's an amazing experience! I'll try and do a trip report later.
