I heard from someone that while you were aboard for a cruise, they usually offered discounts on future cruises. Does anyone have experience with this, and if so how good were the discounts? I am trying to save up lots of money for our October Vacation partly because I want the ability to surprise my DW by dropping the cash on the table for a 7+ day cruise if I like the price.

We booked our upcoming cruise while on-board. The discount was somewhere around 10-20% off the next cruise & a $200 on board credit. They do offer a good deal. I'll double check for certain what the % was if I can find the original card.

What we did was book a "phantom" cruise since our next cruise date wasn't released at the time. Once the dates came out, I was able to change our dates and still get the discount & on board credits. (Plus I got the early booking rate for booking with 1-2 days after they came out!)

By getting the on board booking discount did you find out if you saved much versus getting the early booking rate from a travel agent? Is the discount off Disney's regular prices? We are going on our first cruise in July 2007 and when we booked the travel agents had much better prices than going directly through Disney.

Thanks

Since we booked, or rescheduled, our cruise during the first few days the ew cruises were released, we had the early booking rate and then the percentage off of that. You get the % off whatever the current price is for the next cruise when you re-book. I just checked the prices today for our cruise....If I was too book today I would be paying alot more. I saved about $1000 plus we have the on-board credits! So in total we are ahead $1250.

Also, you can book on board and then transfer the reservation to a travel agent when you get home. You still get the % off & on-board credit from re-booking on board, plus alot of travel agents offer on-board credits too. (Which is what I did, so we got an additional $50 credit from the TA)
