Not sur this is the right board to post this on but I'll let a Mod decide that.
We always visit WDW in May, Oct & Dec. The last few years we've found the Dec trip is causing us to be totally unprepared for Christmas. Also, the last 3 years or so, Dec weather - while truely better then what was at home - was not worth driving down for. So, all things considered, we're probably going to scrap going in Dec and look to a Jan, Feb or possibly even an early March trip.
Anyone out there have experience with the weather during those months ? Any advise to offer ? Thanx in advance.

When I went teh end of Feb 04, it rained a lot and was kind of cold. That was just 1 year, though. I'll let you know if a few weeks what the beginning of January is like. :D
BTW, I'd probably put this in Vacation planning, and I'll gladly move it if you'd like, but I'm not gonna' call the board police on youor anything. ;) :Pokepoke:

You can't shut me up now and I have 15 days 'til I leave. Think you're going to keep me from telling everyone how it went? :p

My wife and I like January. The crowds are small but the weather does get cold at night--Last year it was 38 degrees several nights. We had to go buy some sweatshirts and jackets. The days are very nice. Higly recommend January as a time to go.

We've loved January as well. The crowds are very low, and we've really enjoyed our time. We went toward the end of the month both times we went in January, and were able to swim a day or two or each trip, but the rest of the time it was too cold. We didn't mind too much since there's so much to do, but if that's big on your list, I wouldn't count on it.
The only other thing about January is that it's a little unpredictable. The last time we went, we had absolutely beautiful weather, low 70's during the day, mid 60's at night, really pleasant. My brother's family went one week before us and were totally freezing the entire time. They hadn't brought enough clothes, and ending up buying sweatshirts and jackets for everyone.
So as long as you are prepared for a lot of temperatures and don't have your heart set on lots of water activities, I think it's a great time to go.

I'm with you, KNWVIKING. Rain doesn't bother me so much, but if I don't have a pretty darn good shot of having weather in the 70s, it's not worth going. We went in January a few years ago and had great weather. But the week before we arrived it didn't get out of the FIFTIES on some days. Yes, even that was warmer than home, but not warm enough to justify a trip. Walking around the World Showcase in my winter coat isn't my idea of a vacation. If I'm in the mood for cold I'll go skiing.
Accuweather.com used to have an entire year's worth of historical daily temperature data on their website. On one screen you'd see the high, low and average for every day of the month. Now it's a premium feature. Who really pays $80 per year just to access additional weather features?
We're going at the very end of February '06 (about 65 days from now to be exact), and I'll be sure to report on the weather when I get back.
We're trying the first week of February for the first time. We'll report back!

Thanks! We're looking forward to our trip. Can't believe it is under 2 months!
We have gone to FL in mid Feb about 6 times and have had great weather. I'm sure we have been a bit lucky but we are going with it. We have had sunny and highs in the upper 70's to low 80's (historical ave high in mid 70's). Definately swimming weather! For us anything that is sunny works. It is so gray in western NY from late Nov. til end of Feb that getting that sunshine is truely inspiring. :sunny:

Thanx Lisa, but after visiting our DS in Rochester ( actually Hennrietta, student at R.I.T. ) I don't know that I'd trust your advise. Any weather, any where has to be better then yours ;-).
It's small world time! DH teaches at RIT and I used to be on research staff before I retired to my second job of herding kids. We actually went to school at RIT and never left! What major is your DD?
As far as Roch weather, your right.... but there is worse. I grew up in Oswego (a little farther east along the lake). Talk about snow! and gray! There is a reason we have gone to FL 6 out of the last 8 years! The 2 winters we didn't were bad.... real bad! :crymeariv

DS is a comsi major. He heads back up on Sunday. He's a senior and will finish his classes this quarter. His biggest project this 1/4 though is to line up his co-op for spring & summer quarters. This past summer he couldn't find a co-op job that would qualify for his major.
Oops, sorry, I meant DS. As an undergrad I was a Chem major but co-op made me see the error of my ways. :yuck: I finished up the degree and went for a masters in Color Science. I met DH :loveisint as an undergrad he was in Photoscience which is now Imaging Science. We both ended up working in Ctr. for Imaging Science/Color Science Lab. The students that wouldn't leave! :upsidedow

We have been in January a couple of times. Some days in the 70s most in the low 60s, and one morning at MGM is was 27.
