Heaven help me, but I think that being here during Christmas time is going to be the end of any good eating for me! So far, at my office, we have received 5 chocolate covered nut assortments, a 12" X 12" block of hershey chocolate shaped like a Christmas card, a cheesecake assortment, a box of brownies and its still coming!!!
Someone help me. :hammer:

Resist! Resist!
I heard once that if you crave chocolate, the best thing to do is to eat as much of it as you can, preferably until you are sickened by it. The theory is that then you will not like chocolate any more.
Unfortunately, I've been working on this theory for many years, and have not yet been able to reach the "sickened by it" phase. So really, pay no attention to my advice.
I'm going back to:

So meeting for ice cream tomorrow is out? ;)
DArk chocolate, high cocoa percentage. GOod for you. Low carb.
I'm in the dungeon today, but it's Christmas potluck day. Yikes!!!!!! This could be a killer!
Hang in there Laura!
Laura,
I think your will power is on vacation with my will power. Mine isn't so much chocolate but malt balls and beer right now. And no, I'm not with child!!!

Actually I am going to agree with that! :)
When I was a kid I was on a Peppermint Patty kick. Thats ALL I would eat! (snuck down to the little general store and bought boxes of them!!) I of course ended up really sick and to this day the smell of peppermint/mint makes me sick to my stomach. Yuck!
I wish it worked that way with pototo chips! :)

You can do it...just try to pretend it's not there!
I've had the same problem at my office. I have to just not eat any of it. If I have one piece, then I'll want to try one more, then maybe just another small one...
If I don't eat it at all, I'm ok.

Tomorrow with the ILS will be the worst. Tooo many goodeis, I won't get a real lunch and I will have done a 10-miler. My darn brain is way too good at justifying what I can eat after a run. Try to hang in there everybody!

I keep telling myself that if i had the will power to quit smoking i certainly have the will power to quit eating.
I now have a new addiction - LYING!!!
so i've given up until after the holidays. Oops there I go again - is there a seven step program for this???
whatever you believe in, whatever you celebrate - may it be a safe and HAPPY TIME:goodvibes

While precratination is not good, setting unreasonable expectations for yourself does not help either. If it's hard to be good when there aren't tons of goodies around, don't expect to get better when ther eare. ;) Good luck in teh New Year deedeedos!

:goodvibes My willpower is back! I am so glad. For about a month or so I had none. I'm actually getting ready for our office Christmas party and am looking forward to putting my willpower to use. I made sure they ordered salad, so I'll fill my plate w/salad and just have small portion of some other stuff.
Someone just actually made a snide comment to me about how all I eat is lean cuisine and carrots. No, of course, that's not all I eat, but hello, did they think I lost 75 pounds by eating like a pig??? I think they're jealous

Thanks girlfriend!!!!!!
I did well at the party, had double serving of salad, just a drab of dressing. Had a couple of raviolis. Took the broccoli out of the chicken, broccoli, ziti dish. And took the peppers and onions out of the peppers, onions, sausage dish. Had a bottle of water, and passed up desert!

It is amazing how little willpower I have when I am sick!!!!! I have been half afraid to post here since I am sick again or still ( don't know which:hammer: ) I took a zpac Dec 14-18 and it was supposed to continue working on my lung infection until the 23rd of Dec. On Christmas day, I started feeling bad again! This time, I think I have a bad head cold:faint:
The bigger problem is my uncaring attitude toward food. Yesterday, arriving back at work, there were presents on my desk:goodvibes One of them was a container of really tasty fudge:bugeyed: I had planned to eat healthy and it went right out of the window because I feel bad:help:
Today, I instituted an "eat light day" to try to combat this "eat everything in sight" attitude of mine:rolleyes:
Lisa,
I was the throw up kind of sick, so I'm finding it pretty darn easy right now to avoid all food. :yuck:

Well, I am going to stop short of wishing that I had your illness. I just made a pot of yummy decaf coffee as another ploy to stay away from food today!!!!!
I hope you feel better soon, nono:fingerscr

Lisa - Feed a cold. It's a comfort food hting. Plus, when you feel lousy you feel justified to do somethign to make yourself happy. Don't be too hard on yourself. :grouphug:

Funny you should memtion Z-pack!
My d came home for Christmas on the 21st and has been sick the whole time.
Even tho I won't take pills except asperin very occassionally...I was trying to push Cipro on her after about the 3rd day. But nooooooo, the drug rep knows best.
Finally on the 28th I made her go in for a strep test...negative. And so I told her she needed to contact her dad (a doc) for a script for a Zpack...Voila. She was better yesterday...the day she left.
While her being sick made for a sloowwww Christmas, other than Christmas Eve dinner and Xmas day dinner, I didn't cook. Sooooooooo
I am down 6 lbs since our little challenge started.
I haven't been able to do any walking tho since I fell hard onto my kneecaps which are way sore. So that loss might come back before weigh-in.
When I don't exercise, I feel that my muscles turn into marshmellows in ..like a day and a half...so I feel very 'soft' right now. As I get older, it seems a lot harder to build muscle. Anyone have any secrets to share re that?
Athenna: of course the girls in the office are jealous of your weight loss. But here is something that I learned througb my years of ups and downs re weight since I had my baby (first time I had to diet.) What you have to teach your body is how to eat like when you were thin. I suppose this wouldn't work for anyone who battled weight forever, but I didn't break 100lbs til college and then didn't weight more than 110 til I got pregnant in my 30's. So I remember how I ate and thought about food way back when I was thin....I didn't go to the fridge and tell myself that everything in there would make me fatter...I didn't have guilt when it came to food or eating. I ate when I was hungry (and in college, I ate LOTS when I drank too much !!!) . I think some of us GUILT on pounds. When I took phen/fen and lost 40 lbs, I remember going to the fridge when I was hungry and EATING something...it was like the old days of no guilt because I knew that little pill was letting me metabolize and build muscle instead of building FAT. No guilt.
When the dieticians talk about eating healthy and lifestyle changes, I think the one thing that is missed is that we also need to quit feeling guilty for WANTING fat foods and occassionally eating them. I guess I am advocating not obsessing over food in either way (mindless consupotion or guilty abstention).
OK...now I am going to spend the last 2 days until weigh-in eating salads and cabbage soup and exercising. I want to win that darn luggage tag!!! and I want to fit into an outfit I bought deliberately small the other day as an incentive!!!
Ahhh, the mind/body connection....you are onto something there!
Since I wasn't home yesterday, I'm heading upstairs now to do the final holiday weigh in....not sure what to expect.
