This is NOT a debate about guarantees or about the need for more or less H/A rooms.

I am just back from SSR and the room we had was definately H/A (lower peep hole, thermostat, microwave on the kitchen counter, etc) but it didn't have a roll in shower. I realize that some people can transfer, but is what we got maybe a lock-off room where the roll in shower would be on the studio side making it only fully H/A when it is rented as a 2 bedroom or are there different styles of H/A rooms?

I didn't care for the lack of counter space and the it took a few times of fussing at the children to keep them from pushing the buttons on the thermostat, but mostly it didn't bother me. The lack of counter space in the kitchen is pretty much unavoidable with the microwave down low, but I don't really understand it in the bathrooms. Maybe we just travel with too much crapola, but that little tiny shelf above the sink is a joke. (and it would be a joke to a H/A person as well I am thinking as I bet we don't have THAT much more junk than the average person). Why not some shelves in the bathrooms maybe? Or some sort of drop in sink with the counter tops hanging from the wall instead of being supported by cabinets like traditional countertops?

Am I off base here? What am I missing?

I think all the rooms have that. We had a very small shelf above the sink in the bathroom with the shower in it. Also the counter area for the other bathroom sink was rather small.

I saw the same type of layout in the BCV bathrooms when I visited my friend there.

Yeah, when we stayed in a H/A at OKW I wondered what was up with assuming that handicapped people don't need a counter in the bathroom. I don't get that. And at home, my dad has an entirely accessible bathroom, and all they did was put in a regular counter and sink, but the front is open (more like a sink on a table, than on a cabinet) with a curtain hung from the front so he can roll right in, and you don't have to look at the plumbing.

Seems like a pretty simple solution to me, and actually more convenient than trying to maneuver a chair around the pedestal of a pedestal sink.

When we have reserved H/A rooms we have been asked what special needs we had. Then they call the resort and make sure they have that available for those dates. So I assume there are different H/A rooms at the resorts.
