I get the "Change Notes" email update from Mousesavers.com. This is from Today's email:

United is offering a roundtrip fare ORD-MCO (Chicago to Orlando) of $116.90 including taxes and fees, for travel on selected dates 10/4/05-1/9/06. If you're having trouble finding this fare, try Travelocity and select "Flexible Dates" (there is a $5 per ticket surcharge through Travelocity.)

That sounds like a really sweet deal Cruise.

We use Independence Air to get my mother in law here from DC and they have $100 round trip tickets almost all the time and sometimes even as little as $80 before fees. If you are near an airport they serve, check them out as well. (same rates to WDW too - so next time we bring her along, we will have her just meet us there!)

She said the service was fantastic on her first trip using them last time. We will see if it holds true for her next trip in a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately for us, to get that same great rate to Orlando with Independence, we would have to fly TO Dulles first lol a bit out of the way!

We fly SWA outta Chicago's Midway. Our Christmas trip (dec 15th-22nd) round trip is $577. for 5 seats... thats 115.40!!! LOL The key is to leave the day before the hike.. Christmas rates kick in Dec 16th... car rentals more, flights more... we added a day and saved $800!!!

FLYI has service out of GSO. But everything routes through DC, and the R/T tix prices aren't that great. When they started here a year ago, they had one direct flight to MCO. I liked that b/c it lowered the Delta fares. Give me direct flights any day. We prefer Delta b/c they use the little jets. Quick on, quick off. And you don't have to check your luggage. Just roll it out to the tarmac and they'll pink tag it and put it in the cargo hold. When you land, they have your bags ready at the door.

Big problem with GSO is lack of competition. RDU has SW and Delta's flights are $50 or more cheaper than GSO, depending on what deals SW is offering. We can make it to RDU in about 75 minutes, as long as we don't hit RTP traffic. But GSO is about 20 minutes and the inlaws can take us and pick us up.

We've had no issues with Delta, so I hope they can get their finances straightened out.

Those of us in Atlanta hope so too. They are definately our major airline player, hubbing from here and it really is making people tense around here (I have 5 friends that work at different jobs at Delta and all of them are worried).

Read in today's paper that FLYI may be in trouble and will cut back more service to GSO.

Article did mention that Jet Blue may start offering service.

Delta changed our flight times again going to MCO :hammer: . Each time they do that, I have to call and get our seats re-assigned.

The good part is that they moved our flight time up, so we now land around 6:50, so we could easily be in the WDW gates by 8 and maybe catch Illuminations :) .....but we're not scheduled to get the rental car til 8, so I hope Thrifty is a little flexible.

Boy, I sure wish WE could get great fares like that! The Twin Cities are held hostage by NWA!

I have been getting DING fares from SouthWest for $105 total for non-stop flights Pittsburgh to MCO. I already have trips planned for Jan and Feb to at those prices.
I will NEVER fly another airline. You can't beat their custermer service,no penalty change fee's,etc!!

I flew SW last week for the 1st time. Really enjoyed it, but if you have kids over 5, better be in the A group....

SW flies out of RDU, which is about 75-90 mins away, as opposed to GSO, which is 20 mins...Inlaws will take us to GSO and RDU is $10/day....but if the airfare is right, it's worth the travel...

SouthWest also has 24 hour advance check-in for boarding passes now.Its only Cindy and I now so we don't have to worry about having kids and sitting together. :)

We are flying SW out of Hartford day after Thksgiving. We were able to get $79 each way. I check in on line as soon as I get up for the day of our trip and print out our boarding passes. I have always been in the A's .So far so good.
