View Full Version : Do we want to keep a room list?

I was wondering if everyone might be interested in keeping a room list going for the different resorts?

I would be glad to sticky it and post as people enter the room numbers, what types, the view and smoking/non-smoking and h/a, transfer h/a or traditional and how far is it from the main activity center and bus stop.

If I was standing at check in with such a list in hand, I could much more easily make decisions about which room to pick if they were offering me multiples. Anyone else interested?

If it catches on and we get enough rooms filled in, perhaps we would want to add it to our mouseowners pages for each resort.

Let me know!

Laura

For example - mine for my recent trip would be

SSR 3614 - 1 bedroom lock-off, smoking optional, across the street from the Hot Springs pool, view of the community buildings from the deck, H/A - but no roll in shower, next to bus stop.

I think we definitely want to do this. I also think it's InstImpress who has one already fairly finished for every resort on the other board. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. And I know that they've registered here, so they may be willing to let us put it on our site somewhere and continue to update it as we have info.

We have already linked to Sandy's (InstImpres's) room reports on the MouseOwners.com website.

You can check out the link for BWV here (near the bottom):

http://www.mouseowners.com/BWVGuestRooms.html

and the link for BCV here (also near the bottom):

http://www.mouseowners.com/BCVGuestRooms.html

We have her permission to link to the VWL reports, too, but we don't have the VWL info yet. Sandy will be adding a MouseOwners.com link to her reports when she returns from her Disney trip this week.

I know that Sandy is always looking to update her info, so we can PM her here with any new info. I'm not certain whether she's interested in trying to collect info for OKW and SSR, too, or whether that's something we should start on our own.

Should have known you were already on top of things!

I think it would be great to have them for all the resorts. Somehow I thought she did have one for OKW, but I guess not. Wonder if we could gauge her interest, and if not, just do our own for those resorts?

I thin kit would be nice to have one on here for all teh resorts as some of us spend 90% of our time here and only 10% of our time on the other site.

I'm not sure what you're getting at.

MouseOwners.com is our informational website.

tjkraz, poohspal, idratherbeinwdw, beca, leftcoaster, jarestel, vascubaguy, instimpres, I, and lots of others have contributed (and *are* contributing as of this very moment) to make MouseOwners.com the premier website for DVC information on the internet. We intend to make it the one place to which people can go to have most -- if not all -- of their questions about DVC answered.

The DVC Boards are intended to be, at least partly, an offshoot of that informational website: "If you can't find the answer on MouseOwners.com, then come to the DVC Boards to ask your question, and while you're there, why don't you consider joining our community?"

However, it would be foolish and counterproductive to duplicate our efforts here, particularly when we are putting all of the information in one central location over there.

I'm sorry if you find that inconvenient, DSNY FN.

At any rate, more and more, you will find that answers to questions may be given via links to MouseOwners.com, particularly as that site expands.

It isn't an inconveninece it is just that myself and I am sure a few others don't frequent the other site as often as some so having some overlap from the other site on here may not be a bad thing.

From my perspective, it would indeed be a bad thing. It would be a duplication of work and effort. Why would I want to do that when I could point you to a link and you could have your answer? Seems pointless to me.

ahhh - I missed the room lists because I haven't gone through every page yet. I am still learning about the other resorts (only having stayed at OKW and SSR, I started looking around those sections first).

Thanks Kim!

We are working on doing these in a little more detail for the site, so that as you navigate through the maps, the floor layout of the actual room pops up as you move on it.

ok, I'm back already from my quick trip. I've got about 15 reports to update to the VWL, BCV and BWV lists. If no one wants to take on SSR and OKW I will but I think they are in progress already on the disboards.

Let me know either way and we'll get it going.

I did try again for the BWV map (the same way I got the VWL map) and was told no way!

Thanks to everyone that contributes info
Sandy

Rat farts!

But welcome back!! Hope you had a great trip! :goodvibes

Well, it looks like Simba's Mom is doing the reports for OKW (and HH). She's a member here, so maybe she'd be willing to share what information she has with us so we can get it posted to the website. :loveisint

It looks like the SSR info was being collected by kweaver, but there wasn't that much info there to begin with, and it hasn't been updated in over a year, so it doesn't look like we'd lose any real ground if we just started over.

So, as Sandy asked, are there any takers on the collection of SSR info (which will prove to be invaluable, since it will be the biggest resort)?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I will be glad to do it :)

Let me look at the other lists being compiled and I will do one in a similar fashion. I still have my maps from our trip last week which hopefully will give me a starting point.

I've got room reports from OKW. All I need is someone to teach this computer-illiterate person how to Email something from Microsoft Windows. I started keeping the room reports after my first trip, when the CM at the front desk "didn't know" if the room was HA (sure!), then tried to charge us when we immediately called to change. Now I stand at the front desk with a little info on the rooms.

Hmmm.... Do you mean you have them in Word? I'd love to take you up on this offer and will be glad to instruct you on the intricacies of emailing!! :beaniepro

I just double-checked and they're in Microsoft Excel 2000. For some reason, I can't figure out how to Email them to anyone. If you can help, I'd really appreciate it. My Email is: d_timm32@hotmail.com

In Oct we had room 134 at BCV and we loved it! Its a dedicated 2 bdrm (Not HA). its on the first floor and all we had to do was step out of our room and into the quiet pool. I loved that and the fact it was very close to the BC and also just a short walk to the bus stop.
The only thing it lacked was the 2 queen beds. We actually had a ressie for a dedicated 2 queen our last 2 nights but stayed in this room because we loved the location.

I think having the OKW map would be particularly nice. I kind of have VWL and BCV in my head, knowing vaguely where the numbers are. For example, when they stuck me in #263 this summer at BCV I was emotionally prepared for a scenic view of the service road/highway. But OKW is so darn big -- it is easy to get confused. We usually check in very early, and they have always been kind enough to bring out the map. But having one ahead of time would be GREAT! :)
