Marathon '08 Supporters

O.K., I am not a runner, not even a good fast walker, but I plan to be there to watch hubby do his first 1/2 marathon in January. Can someone tell me what to expect? If we arrive on the night of Thursday the 10th and leave the morning of Monday the 14th, what all marathon-related events will there be that we will definitely want to attend and what, if any, free time will we have?

Really, there are not a lot of marathon events. You will want to get to teh expo Thur or Fri. OK, you have to to pick up a packet. That will be a coule of hours.

There is a post-race party at PI, but not a big deal. You and dh may want to cheer for teh full. My dh and I love to cheer fro the half. Even when he didn't know anyone in the races, you can see how much people appreciate it on tehir faces. As a particiapnt, you know first hand what it mens to you. We love to park on Main Street until about teh last walker comes through adn then move to Epcot around the 12 mile mark. It's awesome.

We do need to try to have some kind of MO meet, if I can get dh to agree to another meet, though. ;)

Are you doing any of the races at WDW before January. YesDear and DS are signed up for the ToT run, which I think is going to be a blast. Any chance you will be there for that?

Oh, would I ever love to do that!! I don't think I will be able to get there for that race. I noticed nono seemed very interested...when is the date for that one?

Did you see that it is the inaugural run, but you would probably know that if you normally run the Disney races. It is also at night and there will be glow-in-the-dark t-shirts and a ticketed party that the spectators can attend also.

Guess who just booked WDW trip # 3???? OMG! I cannot believe I'll have 3 trips in one year! ToT, here we come!!!

Woohoo We are going to have a MouseOwners meet. Carrie, since I have never attended one of these events, maybe you might have some ideas or suggestions as to how to best go about this.

Are you and hubby both running? Where are you going to be staying?

My DW are doing ToT and the Goofy in 08(my 3rd) so no cheering in Jan. Hope to meet all of you at one of the races:)

Yikes! I missed this! DHand I are going to be at SSR, unless our waitlist for BWV or AKV happen (but I doubt it). Not that it really matters, just a location thing for MGM for the novelty of a new place.

I have no idea on when to do a meet or what to do. We won't arrive until Saturday noon-ish. Then we leave way early Tuesday. WHen will everyone else be there?

We are presently at SSR, checking in late on Thursday night and leaving Monday night. Subject to change a little, as I haven't booked flights with SW yet.

I don't have anything else waitlisted for January, but I do have AKV waitlisted for the TOT in October. I thought this would be a great time to try as the resort location won't matter with the race being run at night and not having to be up so early to get to the race.

For January I thought the AKV might be a little too far away from the race site. Maybe not, and I was concerned for nothing.

Carrie, your reply reminded me that I was going to try and change our SSR ressie at the 7-month window, which was yesterday, so thanks for helping me to remember that. :highfive: So I called and moved us to OKW, which our favorite resort anyway, and that way we will save a few points, not many, but each and every one counts. These weekend stays are eating up the points like crazy.

Hello everyone!

I changed our reservations today from December to January 6th - 13th. We will get there on Sunday and then leave the following Sunday. I would be heartbroken if we don't find a minute or two to meet....of course, I will have the little ones along! (they are not so little anymore....PJ will be 2 years and 3 months by then - can you believe it! :tearsaref They grow up too fast I tell ya!)

I did get registered for the 1/2 before it filled up (and I ordered one of those timer things...now I just have to keep up with it). I am not sure I will be ready healthwise, but I am going to try!

Can't wait to see how plans come out!
