Part of our companion website is a section for each resort entitled "Overlooked Gems." This is a place to share any tips, tricks or just plain common sense information with other folks who will be staying at that particular resort.

To those who have stayed at SSR: what would you like to share with your fellow DVC members?

(Note I will post the same question for other resorts in coming days.)

I would say take advantage of the little things they offer in Community hall. Such as the ceramics and the thing with the disney florest.

Very neat items to do and that are inexpensive.

You could do a lot of the things they offer at community hall and never really have to leave for the parks.

Walk to DTD and take the boat back or vice versa. The walk is quick and pleasant, and certainly a nice change from the bus!!!

If you are staying in CP, don't take the 'main road' that goes past Community Hall and check in area - take the left hand road and you will avoid the pedestrian and bus traffic and have a quick, easy, relaxing detour.

beat me to it cobbler! :) I love my horses!

The rocking chairs overlooking DTD. I think we all know they are there, but a newcomer might miss out on such a pretty sunset.

if you aren't staying in the springs section - but don't want to walk to the artist point or main pool or community hall - just get on any bus.

the last stop before leaving is Springs (or it was...)

the first stop when the bus enter is across from springs - in the temporary area close to the main pool.

So it is easy to take a bus to the other bus stops.

the cokes - this place has some strange prices.

I am talking about cokes in bottles or cans.

the ones in the gift shops were the cheapest, then the next in line were the ones at the bus stop, the ones in the building were the more expensive. I have never been in a place that your price depend upon where you brought the silly thing. Very strange - to me anyway.

if you are using DME to get to SSR - be sure and go through www.wegoshop.com or another internet site that will buy your grocery for you. Disney prices have come down greatly - but they are still high.

If you have food allergies like I do. Be aware that the restuarants and grills in DD do not completely prepare the food there. the meats are seasoned and sauced before arriving at the restuarant. I am allergic to pepper - this is a BIG problem for me. Artist point will allow you to read the ingredients in their foods.

you can definitely walk to DD quicker than the bus or boat will take you. but I agree riding the boat once just for fun.

the refillable mugs could only be refilled at Artist point. so be aware of that before you buy it.

this is a lovely resort.

I really hope that DD besides not to cancel the fireworks. they are really great from this resort and only last a minute.

Here are a few of our favorites:

When staying at Congress Park we like to sit on the balcony at night and enjoy the lights from Downtown Disney.

Walking along the sidewalks from Downtown Disney through Congress Park at night and enjoying the fountain in front of the quiet pool.

My three year old son enjoys the small playground.
