This is my first trip "home" and my "home" is SSR. This is such a wonderful resort!!!

We checked in with absolutly no problem. We found our room and we are located in Congress Park with a beautiful view of DTD! It is spectacular! Well with the exception of the small tree cutting the view in half ;) We can also see the quiet pool from our room. And to top it off very close to the bus stop, practically right out our door.

I learned I definatly do NOT want a ground floor. I like to sit out on the balcony with some privacy

We found some wonderful activities to be had here. One is a junior chef program where you can make your own ice cream. Another is ceramics at Community Hall. We didn't do because it was offered Tues/Thurs and Sat. Well Tues we had lunch reservations at 2 and today we had the condo meeting and will not be here Saturday.

There was also a chance to work with the Disney florists and make your own floral keepsake I wanted to do that but completely forgot.

They offer so many neat activities and things for members, you can keep yourself fairly occupied and never leave the resort.

High rock springs was so much fun. Nice warm water and a cute water slide. And I found it funny to have the slide be all tech-ed out. You can't go down until the light turns green. There must be a sensor somewhere to let you know when the person ahead of you has cleared the way.

The walk to DTD was very short and very easy. It was so nice and we walked down there quite a bit. Honestly I love it much better than having to take a bus there. Sorry but it drives me totally nuts that on the return trip home we have to stop by West side and TL. Glad I don't have to worry about this now

We did tour the other DVC resorts, and checked out the rooms of all but VWL. Quite honestly I like ours much better! I know BCV is 12 sq feet larger than SSR in the 1bdrm dept but it looked smaller. It really felt smaller. I will stay there once to say I did but after that I won't be dying to get back in there. Plus my luck I would get the super long hallway. My friend is here at BCV and she is literally at the end of what seems like an 8 mile hall. She is in room x78 so at the very last one! Her aunt counted 246 steps to get there from the elevator. Plus the hallway was very frigid!! It wasn't any warmer than our exterior hall.

BWV I liked a little better than BCV, still felt small and would try there once but prefer home much more. OKW, well unless its a grand villa (because cheaper points) I am not staying there. I absolutely detest the decor. That is just me though.

Oh and we must have the worlds loudest toilets here though. Close that door and it is loud!! We also heard the neighbors flush now and again, not sure if they were next to us or above us. Doesn't bother me though. And it is very quiet here! Have yet to hear the fireworks from PI go off.

Bus service was awesome. Only once did we wait for a bit and that wasn't bad at all. Even return service home was great!

Overall I am extremely pleased with our purchase and would like our resort much more than the others. There are so many things to do, they are adding more. I like parking near my door instead of away and then having to walk 8 miles down the hall to my room. I don't mind walking but geeze, that really was at the end of the hall that my friend had to treck.

So here is one SSR owner that won't be clamoring to get into the BC or BW :)

Glad your 1st trip home was a success! Happy to hear you like SSR so much!
Sorry we didn't get to run into each other while we were there at the same time. Who knows, we may have been on the bus together and not even known it!

Cobbler we agree the resort at SSR is great we love the looks of it the proximity to DTD not thrilled about how quiet it is but the activities adn again being close to DTD makes up for the traquil nature of the place. We love BWV for the theme and the activities and hustle and bustle OKW if it wasn't for the cheap points we would never stay there we hate the retirement home feeling it just isn't our family preference. BCV we walked through it and tat was enough for us not eve SAB is enough to get us to stay at that resort. VWL we stayed there and found it way to dark and dreary for our taste. Glad to hear about the cooking and ceramic activities our kids are going to love these activities next Dec they love to help cooking and creating etc great report thanks for the info.

Cobbler, I'm glad that you loved your home! I was there earlier this year and enjoyed it as well. Isn't that DTD view amazing? (I was on the 3rd floor)

I'll be staying at the 'retirement home' ;) next week, which is MY home, but will definitely stay at your place again in future!!!

OKW if it wasn't for the cheap points we would never stay there we hate the retirement home feeling it just isn't our family preference.

YES!! That is it exactly. I was trying to describe to hubby what it felt like to me and all I could come up with is cheesy snowbird grandma decor.

Nothing against the resort, its just not for me.
