Plans Changed: Komen RFC at Disney in 07

I just got off the phone with representative of Central FL Komen Race for the Cure and he told me that it WON'T be at Disney. He said the date and place weren't confirmed yet but looks to be on Oct 13, 2007 in Orlando. So no doubles for us Race For The Taste 10K runners.:(

He said it has been hard to get a date from Disney and that they have outgrown AK. They only had the choice of EPCOT(sponsor conflict) and WWS(no dates in Oct). Slim chance that they might put it on at Disney but that would me the race would be moved to September.

That really is such a shame. So many like to do a mini Goofy by doing the 5K and the 10K. I didn't realize it was not just automotaically on teh schedule.

Hope they get it fixe dby teh time I can convice dh to do a fall trip too. ;)

I'm so bummed. I was thinking about doing the 5K and DH doing the 10K. I'm mostly a walker, I'm not sure I can do a 10K. I just started trying to run more than walk (3 minutes run, 1 minute walk) and it is about killing me. My feet hurt so bad! I'm contemplating going ahead and doing the 10K with DH. I dunno... :dunce:

Just take it easy and add a little at a time. Before you know it, you will be ready for the 10K. Also, listen to your body. Rest when hurt will help you to stay injury free.

Looks like I'm going for it! Just made ressies and forms are ready to mail out tomorrow morning. EGADS! I did pick up a book that has a very doable looking training program that eases into running from walking. :goob:

I just saw on Disney's site that the Komen Race for the Cure 5K will be held at WDW on Sept 9, 2007. I guess they felt better to move to Sept rather than do it somewhere else.

The event will include a timed 5K, a 5K fun run, a 1 mile walk, and Kids' races.
