Looks like most everyone is arriving on Sunday,Dec2.
While some of us tend to hit the parks right away, others of us just like to check in, unpack and chill.
So this little 'welcome home' meet is designed to 'adapt' to everybody's druthers.
We took the warm fuzziness of the "'fireside gathering at WL" and shifted the location to the more accessible BW. We'll start our 'meet' in the Bellevue Room which is just off the lobby towards the Inn side of the Boardwalk. (Bring your DDE cards as they work here!!!!)
Over drinks, we can get acquainted or reaquainted. Rumor has it that there might be pins and/or teeshirts!!!
From here, I thought it would be easy for everyone to either access the parks (MGM and EPCOT are easy walks or boat rides), stroll the Boardwalk, grab some food on the Boardwalk, or just sit, weather permitting, in the rocking chairs overlooking the Village Green watching the fireworks.
Edited to add: Altho this is a casual event that really doesn't need a signup (anyone can come at the last miniute), I'll go ahead and post the people who've RSVP'd just so I can contact them in the event of a time change!

We'll be taking an afternoon Southwest flight, but won't know what time we arrive until Soutwest posts their December schedule. In the past, we've touched down at MCO around 4:30.
Since we're arriving on a Sunday (instead of our usual Friday), we may opt to do evening EMH at the Magic Kingdom. If we don't do the evening EMH, we probably wouldn't be able to get to the Bellevue Room until around 7:00-7:30.

How would this work with the pool party stimpy is "hosting" on Sunday? From reading the thread you started on the pool party stimpy, it seems the majority of yesses so far are at BWV and BCV. (it's close though, 4 BWV/BCV and 3 SSR) But if everyone is coming to Belvue anywaydo you think it make sense to do the pool meet at the scary clown pool and then adjourn to the Belvue? Roller Coaster Meltdowns anyone??

Mar: WE refers to the hostesses of the WL fireside meet (which is now the WelcomeHome meet) who decided that it might be better to switch resorts to the BW to make it easier for everyone to attend and also to pick a night that no one seemed to have already filled up with activities...[I]that would be jiggerj and I[/I
You could reread the post on the 'calendar' thread if it is confusing to you. Pretty sure everyone else understood .

I edited my post before you wrote yours CB, sorry. I hadn't read the last few posts on the thread you're referring to. I noticed it after I wrote that post, and then i edited out the comments I wrote due to my misunderstanding.
Mea Culpa, thanks for organizing the meet at the Belvue. :highfive:

I greatly appreciate the mea culpa!
Misunderstandings are very easy, especially when we are all posting like crazy today. I find it helps to start out with the premise that everyone has the very best intentions and then go from there.

Yep, you're right. I think in the post I misunderstood if you had said something like "we were talking in the "calendar of events" thread and jigger and I decided" or some such words I would have understood who "we" was. In any case, I am glad we cleared it up. :howudoin:

Yes Scary clown pool! :cheerlead I feel the pool at the BW is sooo convenient for the grownups (leaping horse libations ;) ) and being right where the action is at the pool for the kids-
Did you mention Roller Coaster Meltdowns???????? You know I am soooooo there! :ale: :ale: :ale:

If this event isn't until 7 I think it's going to be hard to tie it in to the pool meet, which stimpy wanted to do mid-afternoon, 2-3 ish. I for one wouldn't do both if they are that far apart. I'd appreciate it greatly if the coordinators of both events work it out so the times are closer together.
I know one reason for doing the Belvue at 7 was to accommodate those arriving at WDW late in the day. But I think many people who arrive that late, unless they are staying at BWV or BCV probably aren't going to make it over there anyway.
IMO a pool meet shouldn't be too late, as it's December and it may be too cool to swim later in the afternoon. Admittedly it may be too cool in the early afternoon, or it may be unseasonably warm and be fine later, you never know that time of year. But if the weather is iffy then earlier the better for the pool goers.
Whatever you all decide, meeting at the pool later or going to the belvue earlier, I hope somehow the coordinators get these events close together. :kickingco

If the The pool meet is scheduled to offer a communal gathering place while waiting for a room in whatever resort we are all in, then the afternoon is the best time to hold it. I think the sun will start to fade at 3; so if that is a consideration, or the weather turns nasty, or we get hungry, we might have to hie ourselves over to ESPN or somewhere warm. BUt we can't plan for that..we can only hope for warm!
At 5 ish, I imagine that those of us who have been roomless, will want to get to our rooms, shower, change clothes for the evening and unpack. (At least that's what I want to do!). Then some people will probably head out to dinner. I've found with prior 'minimeets' that 5-7 is usually eating time, tho I'm on Colorado time and like to eat much later. Rita said that Sunday was late night MK. I'd probably head over to MK directly after the welcome meet while others would probably head to Illuminations or to bed.
So I think that having at least a couple hours between the events is a more reasonable option. True, many people will opt out of attending both events so as to spend more time doing 'their own thing', but I think that would be the case whether they were timed together or separated by 3 hours.
There's also the problem of my arrival time from Colorado. Earliest flight puts me to BW at 3:30. Hoping to go directly to the pool meet, but then will need time, since I'm co-hosting the later meet, to get to my room, shower, change, unpack, and then to the Bellevue to help jiggerj. Can't speak for her, but I'll need time between the two events to get ready for the event I'm co-hosting, especially after :ale: at the pool meet. And I know that neither of us want to miss the pool meet!
Therefore, I'm casting my vote that these two events have enough time between them that I can check into my room/relax/change/eat/unpack before doing the welcome meet. I'd like to think that the welcome meet would be more of a 'stopover' for people who are headed out after to do evening stuff, but I also understand that it might actually come at the wrong time for people who start their evening stuff earlier.

As you said CB, a pool meet in December should be at the sunniest time of the day, and Stimpy already said she planned on it being 2 or 3 PM. I was hoping for the belvue meet to be about 4 or so. Those who havent checked in or unpacked could do so afterwards (or before if the rooms are ready earlier).
By 7 I will want to be out and about in the parks, especially if I've already said hi to a good chunk of folks at the pool meet, no need to say hello all over again if it means making a special trip to do so. (If barely anyone shows at the pool then I guess I may feel differently). I also think it's a bit much to ask those staying at OKW,SSR or VWL to go to BWV twice in one day. I was under the impression that we scheduled both events at BW as a convenience, and if they are that far apart it's not very convenient.
Having said all this, as you are the coordinators CB, if you and Jigger decide 7 is better that's your perogative.

Why dont we just see what happens as the time gets closer. Nothing is written in stone. alot I think depends on when flights arrive - for me personally I might be able to arrive in the am or in the late afternoon. Agreed that alot of folks would like to check in and get settled in their Villa if its ready. I know I do! Bebopping back and forth would be a pain in the neck especially if your are not staying at BWV's. and have excited sleepy kiddos in tow (like me!) -
Idea  ....Might be just alot easier to do the Welcome meet with Stimpys Pool time (of course if thats ok with you stimpy :flowerfor: )- Happy kids with a pool and happy grownups with Leaping Horse libations...AND VERY Important....... I dont think ya can get RollerCoaster Meltdowns at the BelleVue! WAAH!! and that also opens up the eve for everyone.
We have plenty of time to make definate times and plans- We still have lots of fiddle time room between now and Dec! :)
Alot of the fun in these meets is the planning! :)

I think combining the pool/welcome home is a great idea. Those with little ones might not be all that into the belvue as a kiddie hangout. It;s probably the best of both worlds to do it all together. And yeah to meltdowns!! What do you think Stimpy and CB (and anyone else who has an opinion, LOL).
Agreed, half the fun is planning! So far we're doing pretty well, there were bound to be sone kinks to work out. :grouphug:

Well, for one, I won't be able to make the pool meet since, as I posted, I don't get in until 3:30.
I think we can have two meets on one day and they hopefully will both be welcoming...If you can't make one, try to make the other. It's not like it will take a kajillion people to make either one of them fun.
I thought the Bellevue Room was set up with table games of all sorts and that children were welcome. There's access to the porch if kids need a little runaround time.
If it gets closer to the meet and no one is interested, then of course we can cancel it. It seems way to early to overplan here...no tickets, no ressies, no cost....just be there or not.

Just a thought CB--What about we do the pool meet starting at 3, as long as that's ok with Stimpy and everyone else. I would hope everyone would stay a while. If you're arriving at 3:30 you should be able to catch a good part of the meet.
If that won't work and you and Jigger decide to do something later that's your call. Let us know what you decide.
I thought the Bellevue Room was set up with table games of all sorts and that children were welcome. There's access to the porch if kids need a little runaround time.
Never run into the table games there, but The Bellevue Room is frequented regularly by my D. Since she's a marachino cherry nut, that's all the entertainment she needs as D plays her own game: Look cute, meet strangers drinking Manhattans, and score their cherries from their drinks. (No, I don't really let her do this with strangers, but at a mouseowners meet, it might occur, so you've been warned!)
Bellevue doesn't open until 5 pm (one of the true downfalls in BWV to my mind). Depending on the weather, I may have to skip the pool part and just meet at the Bellevue meet. No use trying to keep a 3 yr old out of the pool if it isn't warm, and if it isn't warm, she's not going in...IYKWIM. I'm the meanest Mom!

Just piping in...what ever is good for everyone else is fine with me.
Like it was mentioned, I don't think we want a pool meet too late in the day in December. On the other hand, people may be arriving later in the afternoon and won't have time to make it. CB, when you say you are arriving at around 3:30, is that to MCO or WDW?
I kind of thought the pool meet was more of a casual get together to hang out and relax for a while and the Welcome Meet was more of an "official Opening Ceremony" kind of thing?
Like I said, combining the 2 is not a problem with me and I do see everyone's point about the time span in between.
For me personally, I would welcome the time in between to go back to the villa after hanging out at the pool to go and get changed for a night out.....but we're staying at the BCV right now. I can totally see what a PITA that would be for someone staying at a different resort....although you're welcome to come hang out in our villa....as long as we don't go over the occupancy by too much :ROTFL:

No, there is no "official opening ceremony". CB and Jigger decided to call this meet the welcome home meet, but it's no more official than any other get together we are having.
Whatever everyone decides this is just one event of many, so whoever can't make it will still have plenty of chances to meet other MO's. I'm sure there will be lots of fun times on this trip! :hyper:

Hey Stimpy...I noticed that Southwest is adding Nonstops to Orlando, and one toTampa in May, so I might be able to get in earlier than 3:30,even a day earlier if I fly to Tampa and stay with a friend. I live 2 hours from my airport here, so usually don't schedule 6AM departures because I have to get up...well I guess I don't go to sleep if I have to leave the house at 2am. And then it becomes such a long day that one Roller coaster meltdown and I will (meltdown that is)
Last trip I got to the resort at 3:30....but the gods were smiling on me!:jumpingbe . I have your cell phone number...so you can best be believing that I will be phoning in as soon as I land...I wanna pool meet!!!!..and at least making the diehards WAIT for me!!!!
I not only thought your meet was casual, I thought the Bellevue meet was also casual. I've never been a very 'official' kind of girl as anyone who's been to one my minnie-meets can certainly attest!!!! When I called the Bellevue meet a 'welcome home meet' there was nothing scheduled at all for Sunday...so I thought it might be a way to meet up to see if there were any schedule changes etc, to meet new faces, and to reaquaint with old. Nothing official for those that worry about such things! We have to remember that this isn't a 'convention' but only an 'ohana' gathering....We are family! As it is...there are now two chances for people to come together on Sunday, and I think that is a good thing! I promise that my feelings won't be hurt if the drunks at the pool are thrown out of the Bellevue room by the bouncer! HA!
Nono, glad to hear the Bellevue room is amenable to little cherry thieves! And glad that the l'il Nono's will be there. Cannot wait to meet them, tho I feel I already no miss nono from her cute pics!
And back to the pool meet...and while I'd be willing to share my studio re clothes changing etc as will Stimparoo....the exercise room at the Boardwalk (right by the pool) has excellent shower/locker rooms and everyone can use that as we have plenty of people who are staying at the BW and I even think it is open to DVC members too. (last time I used it no one asked for a key).
Stimparoo...I think there will be plenty of peeps who come to the pool party (as long as the weather is warmish and the bar is open:jumpingbe ) because most of 'youse guys' live on the east coast and flights seem to get in in the morning.
I think the Bellevue Room will also have some people who get in later in the day and stop in before or after dinner. Speaking of dinner??????? If you'all get hungry at the Pool, let me know if you are heading out on the Boardwalk for food so I don't show up late in a bathing suit!
And if we end up, in December, finding that everyone gets in early or everyone gets in late or no one gets there til Monday !!!!!!!! either or both of these events can be moved or time changed with no problem whatsoever. So lets just continue being 'casual' about this and see what happens!

It seems that my new prefered airline for flying to the world is Midwest (we get signature service the whole way) but they have only 1 flight/day so we would arrive late. Stimpy can you please add me to the list of those attending this? I won't be able to get there until 8, but I do plan to stop by. :flowerfor I hope I catch some of you, but if you're all off to other places by then it's no biggie, as I'm staying at BWV anyway and I'll just hang out on the Boardwalk if everyone is gone.

Another DUH me--I forgot I can edit other people's posts. CB seems to have not noticed my request, so rather than be a nag I added my name to the list in the first thread. Thanks for the sweet comments everyone! I'll be so excited to meet up with some of you at Stimpy's pool gathering, and a bunch more at this meet at the Belvue once the :kiltshow ends (about 8 PM). (and of course looking forward to meeting lots more Mouseowners as the week goes on). Woohoo, can you believe it's only 38 more days?? :bunny:

Wanted to add....lovely if you do sign up but no worries if you just stop by because you happen to be in the area! We are equal opportunity welcomers (look for us, we'll be the noisy ones with umbrella drinks in hand and babies playing on the floor):welcome:
