Updated with who's going:
Idratherbeinwdw and DD Sarah
Tammy
I promised my 16 year old daughter I'd take her parasailing this trip. I am just a bystander, but if anyone else wants to join her in the air, I'm sure she'd love company. Here's the info on cost and some reviews if you're interested. There is a 10% discount for DVC members and AP holders:

I'm just judging interest at this point, date and time TBD by all who want to attend.
Oh, come on, Mar....iIdid it with my kids...it's fun.....and you're considerably lighter than I am so you'll be able to go even higher!!!

Ron and I did it last Sept. It was the most awesome thing I have ever done.
And for those Disney Nuts, the back stage view you get is unbelievable.
Even I, someone who does not go higher than two steps on a ladder was snapping pictures like crazy. Which meant one hand hold:woohoo:

Really Kathy? So you think I might not be that freaked out, and maybe I should try it? I get vertigo when I look down from high places, that's my major concern.

Until the wind hits the chute, you truly can not even feel you are moving.
But you are high, VERY HIGH.
Ron went higher than I did as it was much more windy when he went up (he was last to go).
I went first (there were three of us that went up). I figured if I saw someone up there before I went, I would never go. It was a wise choice.
I did not look down all that much, but rather out. Can see Fantasyland and the castle really good. Then you see the whole staging are behind Fantasyland.
WL, Swan, Dolphin.
It was justa really cool view. Again, I was looking out and not down.
I would think you could go tandem. Can't remember the weight restriction but I think it was 350.
Mar, do a tandem with your daughter. You're so stapped in that it isn't funny. And just keep telling yourself that it's Disney and they're not go to let n activity like that go on on their property unless it's super safe.

You all may have convinced me to do tandem. No worries about the weight limit, the two of us combined are less than 270 lbs. Thanks Kathy and John!!:howudoin:

Hey- go for it! You don't feel as high as you are because the water makes you loose perspective and you are actually moving really slowly. I thought it would be more like a thrill ride, but after I did it, I found out that it is very peaceful, relaxing and amazing. You won't regret doing it and your daughter will be so proud.

Okay (gulp) you've all convinced me. Tandem with the DD it is! I guess if I get really freaked I'll just close my eyes. :beaniepro

You'll be fine. Be sure to take a camera. Even you.
I had a waterproof disposable. It comes with a rubber band strap that I slipped my wrist through.
I held on with one hand and took pictures with the other. Even as shaky as I was, you can not tell which pictures I took and which ones Ron took.
Make sure someone takes a picture of you taking off. Ron snapped one of me and it is priceless. The smile on my face is ear to ear and then some!!
I was worried about the landing, but they guide you in. They are nothing short of a Class Act.
As John said, it is Dinsey, they are not going to do anything stupid.
I strongly suggest going first. It was the smartest thing I did.

I am dying to know if you did it? I am a bit leery of heights, as well. As long as I feel secure I am okay. I am thinking of doing this for our upcoming anniversary tri. April, 2008.
Thanks Wendy

My own experience of parasailing was very positive, and I felt very secure. This was in Seattle, but the same system, I believe. Basically, you're well harnessed in. I felt like I was sitting on one of those rubber seated swings that forms to your body - very snug. I felt secure enough to video tape and take photos while up in the air.

We are going to try para sailing this summer.
I agree that it is a ton of fun... and quite easy to do. We all went up a few years ago (2003) and it was a blast. We didn't get wet at all... and it does not take any skill.
Consider it a different version of Soar'n. It is just as easy... but more fun... and you don't even have to dodge a golf ball :)
