I am curious if anyone has paid for and received their "renewal" info. I need to crunch the numbers, but if we don't go to WDW until March this year (HHI for a long weekend in January and February I am still usually swamped at work), I don't think I will renew as much as purchase new passes. Our current passes expire at the beginning of January (if I am remembering correctly - ack).
My concern is that they will end the discount so I suppose I am taking a risk on waiting.
What would you do?

It seems unlikely they will end the perk. But to realize the AP perk is only worth about $15 in additional savings. According to Allears, the price for the discounted AP is $314, while the renewal is $298.
IMO, what you really need to ask yourself is whether there is any chance you would return to WDW between January and March 2007. If not, then you might as well renew and save $15 per pass for the AP that runs Jan '06 to Jan '07.
But, if there's any chance you will want to visit in February or March '07, then you might as well buy a new AP during your March '06 trip so that it will also cover your Feb or March '07 stay. Make sense?

I had the same delimia in August.
We decided instead of renewing to wait for my october trip to purchase a new annual pass with the dvc discount it came to around 320.00. We decided to do the same with our son's pass and my dh, they will renew next week during our dec trip.
didn't realize it at the time but this was a real good move for us as we now have plans to go dec 2005, may 2006, august 2006 and Thanksgiving 2006 and all these trips will be covered with the dec annual passes.
Also purchased one of our sons a 10 day hopper never expire pass not such a great deal at $385 but since hes not one to go more than once in a 12month period it made more sense to purchase this type of pass for him.
I'd look to see when else you may possibly go, in addition to the March trip

We probably will simply renew. I looked and our passes were bought at the beginning of February - not January - oops ...so the savings isn't really that great since we WILL be going for sure in April and probably in March to a spring training game or two...and well, when I have an active pass, I can just about talk myself into taking a trip to WDW anytime :P
The difference over the coming year is the best rate program. If I am paying that much more for values and/or moderate stays over the weekends, we probably will go less and stick to DVC trips only. I am sure the desire to hit WDW will overcome my frugal nature from time to time, but its dang hard for me to spend $50-75 more per night this year from last just because I can't plan more than 90 days out for a weekend trip. (heck - I am lucky to plan my DVC trips, but they are big "take time off work" real vacation plans, so those I just make myself choose early).
We may have to find some other place to head for short weekend trips if the best rate program hangs on. :( (then our renewal will change for the following year based on actual usage in 2006).
