View Full Version : For those of you with little ones...
...which Disney movies were they into first? So far, my daughter (22 mo) really only likes Toy Story, Mary Poppins, and can watch about 30 min. of Finding Nemo. Everything else (other than The Wiggles), forget about it!
Looking for ideas!
Thanks!

Aritocats were my kids favourite now it is the little mermaid 2 and the incredibles.
Pooh was/is a staple in our house. DD was addicted to it. I'll second the Aristocrats and add Lady and the Tramp & Dalmatians for those younger years.
Pixar movies weren't big for our kids until they were at least 4 or so. The older, less frenetic Disney standards kept us happy for years.

I'm with TW1 in this - we loved Pooh, and anything a bit slower and gentler. My kids would have nothing to do with Mary Poppins for a long while, though, except for the middle part since the rest is not animated.
They've also liked Cinderella and Robin Hood.

After you mention it Lady and the tramp 1 and 2 were also big hits at our house along with the Jungle book 1 nad 2.

I really had to think back on this one (since the older child watching movies, etc kind of dictated what the middle one watched....so he was watching movies sooner than my first - if that makes ANY sense at all lol) and what I remember is that we stuck to more along the lines of Blues Clues, Bob the Builder, Dora the Explorer, Pooh's tv show for the longest time. Movies simply didn't hold their interested until 3 or later.

I'd have to say Pooh for our boys. When they were around 4 they started watching the other movies, and really liked Toy Story! Peter Pan was my oldest's fav for a while, and my youngest loved Jungle Book.

Youngest watched Cinderella a million times over...
Oldest watched Little Mermaid alot...
Neither of them now at age 5 and 7 care to watch any of the Disney movies anymore. I guess I burned them out.
The biggest hit with both? The live action Disney sing-alongs, practically the Disneyland one. They literally wore those tapes out.

My kids love the sing along songs especially teh campout at WDW and the Beach Party one.
Thanks everyone for your ideas! It kinda threw me that my daughter willing sits through Buzz Lightyear start to finish. Since we're traveling a lot right now, anything that I can load up in the DVD player that will truly interest her will be a plus! She's a trooper, but I'd like her to have as enjoyable travel time as possible.

Ya, those also! I can recite them start to finish...

I was going to say, nono, pretty much anything with music is what would have made our kids happy at that age. They really weren't interested in a story line, but the singing, and especially if it was colorful, or a lot of action, or dancing, they would watch it. We also got a ton of use out of the Disneyland sing-along, and Wiggles, and that sort of thing.
They tend to get addicted to certain movies too. It seems to change very regularly, and this last trip someone loaned us "The Swan Princess" which is an adaption of Swan Lake. We were stuck in blizzard conditions in Michigan, and were in the car about twice as long as we'd planned. We'd heard this movie 57 times. My dh leans over and says, "If we don't get there soon, I'm going to have to murder the Swan Princess, and it won't be pretty."
It's amazing how many times you can put up with hearing something, though, if it means you're not hearing "She touched me! Are we there yet? How much longer? I need a snack. I want to get out..."

LOL ya my kids still laugh at the CORNY joke at the end LOL. The thing I found with the sing along songs is that it gave the kids a true to life image of the size of the characters at WDW so it helped ease that fear that some kids tend to get when they get up to them.

I came in on this one late but my older son was positively addicted to the classic Jungle Book animation movie when he was two:goodvibes
