Did there used to be a tab that said First Unread that would pop up on the left side when you returned to a thread that you had previously visited? I thought I hd used this feature before, but it doesn't seem to be there any more. Am i confused again or was it there and has now disappeared?

I don't remember if there ever was or wasn't one of those things. However, you can still go to the first unread in a thread. If you look at the left side of the listed thread, there is a circle with an Arrow / triangle in it. If the thread has one of those, then there are unread posts and when you click on that circle, it will take oyu to the first unread post.

"View First Unread" is a button or link just under the Reply button on the top left of the thread frame. It should be there if you return to a thread and it has a new post, but if you have just marked all your posts read, it won't be there.
It's there for me, at this very moment!

Thanks Leftcoaster, I will keep that in mind.
Dirk, I haven't ever marked them all as Read, but yesterday that option was not there for me under the Reply button on any thread. I went to several threads I had been to before and it just wasn't there. Thought I was going crazy for a while, so I am glad to learn that it was there before. Maybe I just had gremlins in my computer yesterday.

If you come to MO and then leave without looking at a particular thread that you might be interested in (thinking, perhaps, "Ill come back and read that later"), vBulletin will mark that thread as "read" (via cookies). So, you'll be pretty much out of luck and left to your own devices (vis a vis figuring out what posts you have/haven't read) on you next visit.

I think this instance was truly gremlins. I had visited the ownerslockers thread several times and yet when I went yesterday that option was not available, the same with some other threads that I had posted on.
The option is back for me today, however, so all is well.
