View Full Version : A request to the staff

I remember when I first signed up on DISboards, I was not allowed to post a link for something like 10 posts. I'm not sure if pictures were allowed either.
I've reported a fair number of spammers to the staff (including one today). Since MO and DISboards use the same bulletin board engine, is there a way to not allow links and pictures to new or first time posters? That would definitely cut down on the spamming.

Rita - thanks for catching and reporting the posts. Kim, our Administrator, is the one who has access to the settings. I'm sure she'll read this and let us know if it's possible or not.

Sorry , but I don't think that's possible with this version of the software. It may be that there's a plug-in or different settings for this in the newer version of vBulletin we'll be installing some time this spring.

Darn it. I'll just keep my eyes open and report them as I see them. I guess the good news is Mouseowners is getting big enough to attract spammers :hahahaha:

Wow, I wasn't even aware we were allowed to post links in the public board. I came here from intercot and they absolutely refuse to let anyone even *mention* another website in passing.
I guess I need to read the posting rules. :o

I've just looked at an old plug-in that may enable me to do something like what you've requested. I'll have to test it out before I install it, though, so it could be a week or so before I get to it.

One should always read the posting rules! (As I guide, I'll even beg, beg, beg everyone to!). Anyway - your first point is just part of our charm!

Sorry. :( I probably shouldn't have admitted that!!
I am not new to boards, and always err on the side of extreme caution. I am used to very strict policies, so usually figure if I follow that, I am okay. I promise to always read posting guidelines from now on! :handshake
We have posting guidelines????
Just kidding Dirk! ;)
