View Full Version : Sorry! Another question on the OKW studios

I dont know how you guys put up with my constant questions :) but here is another one!

I understand that the studios DO NOT have safes in them. What do you guys do with your cash ect...do you stash in somewhere in the room? Carry it all with you? Do they have a safe at the HH? and how big a pain is it to use if they have them?

Leave day after Turkey day and just a-stressin' (Happy "getting ready to go to Disney" type stress! :) )

Well, I am definitely going to be in the minority here. As you may know, I pretty much live in hotels most of the year. I *GASP* never use the safe when in North America. And I *GASP* leave my laptop unlocked (I do travel with a cable lock, but there's rarely anywhere to really securely lock my laptop in the room)

My passport stays in my travel wallet, which gets tossed inside the suitcase.

I usually lay my laptop inside my suitcase, or cover it with something. (I also don't get my room serviced very often, but at a DVC you don't anyways, except for TT day)

Cash? what's cash? :) I use my Visa cheque card or a credit card for park purchases, or I sign the charge to my room using my room charge card.

My only other 'valuable' which I bring is my camera, which goes into my handbag every day. 'Handbag' sounds like the Queen of England, but since I had a serious shoulder injury a few years ago I can no longer carry a knapsack. (And I always went overboard on the knapsack and had a sore back by the end of the day)

The front desk offers free lock boxes for guests, which I have used. But I seem to recall that they have been up-fitting the studios with a safe. I'm nearly 100% certain our studio in May of '04 had a safe.

Most studios at OKW are lock-offs for bigger units. The logic was "why put more then one safe in a 2 bdrm or GV" . Problem developed though with the popularity of using the studios as stand-alones which prompted the up-fit.

Shows you that I don't even look for a safe! ;) I was in an OKW studio this past April for a week and don't recall a safe. It may have been in the closet? but then again, I certainly wasn't looking for one!!!!

I have fuzzy memories of a safe at OKW... But, assuming that there is no safe, I'd just look around the room and figure out a good hiding spot for cash.
Admittedly, I bring very little cash with me on my trips. I just charge 95% of everything and pay it off when I get home.

my in laws had a safe in their studio at OKW and I am certain we had them in our room at BWV and VWL. At OKW they are in the closets same with the 1 bedroom and up it was in our closet in teh bathroom in our 1bdrm in May.

Yes, I'm pretty sure there are now safes in the studio closet just like in the master.
