argh!!!

I really really really don't need to be at home right now since I am about to be home for a long period of time and I have things to work on!

This is a measure to attempt to keep people from freaking out about gas and causing a shortage here. I am totally frustrated though because what I think it does is basically close down the state (and cost people a lot of money). Either you have to find daycare for 2 days if you have children, or you have to stay home and take vacation days. How is this good for people in general?

I am lucky enough that it won't matter - I can just take off and it doesn't cost me anything except for work time. However, this is just crazy! I am not going to take the boys to daycare for 2 days when they are not expecting it. (besides - my daycare is great as far as the care of the children - but they consider 2 days a WEEK - so this would cost me $200 bucks for two days - that is just too much in my book).

GGGGRRRRRRR forgive me venting, but this seems like a bad idea. And AND - did I get gas this morning - nope. Now there WILL be a panic no matter what they are trying to avoid so I might just be stuck at home reguardless.

Oh - and the Govenor announced this gem at a 4 pm news conference. Wasn't that nice for the schools to be able to tell people not to come next week on Monday or Tuesday???? Good planning there!

Welcome to the 70's my dear! Flashback time for me!

Ah, but seriously - I understand about the day care thing - they just never think how awful this is for everyone all around!

Darn southerners - er, ah, um, I mean - darn politicians!

Grrr!! I don't think politicians think about workign families these days. Tha tmakes it tough! They'd never do this in MI, because the teachers would have to work extra days in the spring. There'd be a revolt!

They are using "snow days" here to cover for these days so no one has to make them up.....unless we get bad weather this winter. Somehow I think we are now going to get snow this year  Murphy's law in there I am sure lol

Oh well. I will take some things home, but I am not gonna stress about this. Maybe I will just go jump rope and see if I can talk this child into coming! lol Then who cares!!!!! woohoo!!!!

True. The ones who will be affected the most will be the ones who cannot telecommute....typically lower paying jobs, I would assume. They would have to decide to pay extra for daycare or miss work. :(

I know what you mean, Laura  Over here in Alabama, they always make these four day weekends during the year and cause parents to have to arrange special daycare for both Friday and Monday. That used to make me sooo crazy when my kids were small
