In the last couple of days there have been some negative reports about problems with Wegoshop in Orlando. A visit to the Wegoshop website for the Orlando franchise currently displays this message:

"Please Note: As of 11/18/05 we will no longer be accepting credit cards as a payment option. This is planned to only be temporary, however we do not have an estimated time of re-establishment."

In my opinion, this is a big danger sign. Those visiting WDW in the coming weeks and months who have plans to use WeGoShop would be well advised to stay in communication with them and make sure groceries will be delivered as scheduled. Be prepared to pay via cash or check, and have alternate plans in place in case WeGoShop does not deliver as planned.

As I've posted "on another board" -- so far we have a track record via posts of positive experiences posted over the last 2-4 years. From other posts on other boards, we've seen that this past week may have included exceptional circumstances for the husband and wife who are WeGoShop in Orlando.

Pending further, on going negative reports, I'm inclined to with hold judgement. Even the credit card matter may be something as simple as changing credit card processors/banks or even their software (quickbooks pro comes to mind).

While I've had nothing but positive experiences with them over the past 2-3 years (approx 6-8 uses); things could have changed, but I sincerely hope not.

Good advice, dvcconvert. I wasn't trying to pass judgement, rather just to forewarn people to have "Plan B" ready in case things really are going south for WGS.

Someone else posted to another thread here today that he confirmed a reservation with WeGoShow, but they have failed to return 3 phone calls as attempted to schedule a delivery time.

Obviously we hope this situation resolves itself, but it seems like a good time to plan for the worst while hoping for the best.

UPDATE: Please bear in mind that this is second-hand information and I have not independently verified its accuracy.

I just read some information elsewhere from someone who spoke to folks at WeGoShop today. According to this individual, there has been an "ownership change" with regard to WeGoShop. That is the reason they cannot currently accept credit cards.

The message further went on to say that WeGoShop has elected to discontinue Sunday deliveries.

If anyone has first-hand information regarding the status of WeGoShop, they are encouraged to relay that information here.

As I have never used WeGoShop I cannot comment on current situation, but did want to recommend netgrocer.com as an option. You can't buy produce etc but you can order items and have them couriered to the hotel.

Prices are reasonable and I have used them successfully a few times for unexpected trips.
